Re: The Witcher is being made into a TV show by Netflix

Umbrella Academy is awful. Daredevil was ok. Other stuff she's been involved with are soap operas.

Power is the only thing she's helped produce that is what I'd consider quality.

I actually wasn't aware she was involved with Umbrella Academy. This makes me even less optimistic.

It's mostly from reading her terrible casting dialogue as well as openly admitting that Geralt isn't going to be Geralt.

It'd be a difficult project even in competent hands. They don't have the budget to give us anything like the games and I don't think she's good enough of a writer to give us anything like the books. She's leaked parts of the script on twitter in the past that she wrote herself and if those are the highlights she's proud of then yeah, not optimistic.
Well I'm not familiar with her or the Witcher franchise, but I looked her up and saw she did 2 of my favorite shows so I don't think she can be that bad. But maybe it's a Dickhead and Douchebag thing where she's a great producer but a terrible writer. Are the Witcher novels as well written as ASOIAF? Maybe her original writing will be kept to a minimum.

Shilling for Xia Li, Aliyah, Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley

Witcher books are just as good. Characters are just as complex. There are a lot less characters. I can't say the plot is less complex, because I haven't read them all, but I assume it's not. Few novels are as complex as A Song of Ice and Fire.

But yeah the novels I've read, which is about half, are outstanding fantasy.

Triss is in the show. She's not a redhead like she is in the games, but she's not a redhead in the books so it's ok.
must have missed the bit where triss was mentioned

geralt loves a gossip lol. doesn't know when to shut the fuck up sometimes

think i'll watch the first episode when it comes up and see how it does

This is one of those things you really just have to see to make up your mind on. I can see some loving it and some hating it.

I haven't read any of the GOT books but from fans who've read both they seem to be comparable like MisterMister said. The only other novels I've read are Harry Potter lol. I only got into the Witcher novels after enjoying the games and wanting know more about the characters and lore. They're good enough to draw someone like me in who usually doesn't care to read for whatever it's worth. They're pretty cheap too if you buy them in bundle.

Cavill looks so buff compared the guy from the video games it looks so comical.
