So I can't really say I am too surprised to see them opt for a reboot with a director who's able to do more with less.

David Harbour is actually an ingenious choice for Hellboy. I would of never of even thought of him for the role in the first place. But there's no denying he's got some massive shoes to fill.

Neil Marshall is a solid choice. As Ton has already pointed out he's responsible for some amazing episodes of certain big TV shows but his filmography ain't too shabby either. The Descent and Dog Soldiers are two tremendously underappreciated horror flicks. He's got the experience for the material IMO. And now the freedom with R rating.
I love GDT, but agree with you on his career. I think it's also hurt him a little not finishing so many projects he was working on. Think about how many projects he has been associated with that either never materialized or he quit.

He bailed on the Hobbit movies. He bails on JLD to do PR 2 then leaves it or is fired and there are many more.

I get that directors leave projects all the time and projects never get off the ground, but GDT seems to be the worst about it.

He's TOO creative. He has tons of ideas in his head but can't commit to any

That's it exactly. He needs a partner to keep him focused. Either that or Ritalin.

Re: R RATED HELLBOY MOVIE!!!!!!!

Really wanted to see del Toro's vision of Hellboy come to a close regarding Red and Liz's twins, but fuck it, I'm on board with an R-rated remake if Mignola gives it his blessing.

It'd also be tight if Lobster Johnson and Roger appear in some actual capacity instead of a cameo like Roger made.

Re: R RATED HELLBOY MOVIE!!!!!!!

Had a little think on it. Couple of choices for each of them.

Prof. Broom - Gary Oldman/Mark Rylance
Abe Sapien - Alan Tudyk/Michael Emerson (Assuming voice acting like Pierce in the first HB)
Liz Sherman - Jessica Chastain/Katie McGrath

Haven't seen any of Neil Marshall's movies, but I looked at his filmography and he directed the GOT episodes 'Blackwater' and 'The Watchers on the Wall ' , a couple of episodes of Constantine , and the "The Great Red Dragon" episode of Hannibal

Harbour is a good choice for HB. Have to start thinking about fancasting for the other roles. Hope they keep Prof. Broom alive this time. That was a misstep by GDT, I think.
Thanks for the info. Losing GDT and Perlman is a huge gut shot, but I am heartened to hear that the property is in most capable hands.

I fucking came...

This is amazing. I'm sad Del Toro is gone but Marshall is a great choice. His movies were all either great or pretty good.

And he directed the Game of Thrones episode with the Battle of the Wall, probably one of the best in the whole show.

Re: R RATED HELLBOY MOVIE!!!!!!!

Ron Perlman will always be Hellboy but I'm willing to give Harbour a chance before I start moaning about anything. Are this point, I'm just very happy to read that the IP isn't completely dead and at least someone is willing to continue the legend.

R rated too? I mean

Now this is something to really look forward to. It's the best we can hope for after Hellboy 3 had no chance of happening tbh, so I accepted that was dead in the water, so I'm glad someone else is at least willing to give us something.

I just hope as much love and affection goes into this as Toro and Perlman put in.
