Re: X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Fassbender would have shined as Magneto if they didn't make him a goddamn yo-yo.

How many times has he betrayed and come back to the X-Men now? I lost count.

That isn't Fassbender's fault at all, and his performances in First Class, Days of Future Past, and even a few scenes in Apocalypse are great, but when he keeps betraying the X-Men and coming back, it just becomes ridiculous after a while.

He's like The Big Show of the X-Men franchise.

Magneto does this in the comics too. It depends on which writer is writing him, though even Chris Claremont had him swing from evil to not so evil to he's almost good and back again. He wants what he thinks is best for mutants, but at his core he is definitely a mutant supremacist. He's also pretty much a terrorist. His power is also extremely powerful, so it's hard to imagine a person like this not being a villain.

I think Fassbender is great, but Magneto and Fassbender were wasted on bad movies.

That's the benefit of comics though. They can spend the right amount of time to flesh it out. In the movies, it is just jarring because everything feels so sudden.

It's jarring because of bad writing. I'm not saying good writing is easy though, especially like you elude to the very limited time any given movie has. Good writing is fucking hard.

I was just saying it's in Magneto's character to change his methods now and then. Like I said, he genuinely wants the best world possible for mutants, but his methods to achieve this are often evil.

Mystique. Started off as a silent badass who would fight anybody. Then got turned into a talking bitch with a fucked up backstory.

Re: X-Men: Dark Phoenix

I enjoyed it. Went in with super low expectations which probably helped lol. Wasn't great, but I don't regret the time I spent watching it. Also... they seemed obsessed with Sophie Turner's tits in the first half of the film . Camera was CONSTANTLY focusing on them any time she was on screen .

That was just to prove she isn't Boy George.

Re: X-Men: Dark Phoenix

that movie was so awful in so many ways

but why did they have that helicopter scene at all? like if she didnt go to his camp and then magneto went after her to try to kill her at least it would be a surprise reveal type thing where she easily overpowers him(at least in-universe). Instead he sees that she can literally be as strong as he is with his own main power when fighting against her with the helicopter and still think it's a good idea to just rush in against her.

also why does no one get called by their mutant name? Storm is the only person that called their xmen name. No Magneto, no Mystique, no Cyclopes, nothing. Lame, so lame.

Wasted time with this movie. I got the ticket for free and I'm still mad I saw it. I could have seen godzilla instead.

Re: X-Men: Dark Phoenix

It wasn't great. I don't follow X men films so had no idea what to expect and watched it on it's own merits, I only went to see it because I'm on holiday and I can't spend all day drinking and shagging Thai girls.

Jenifer Lawrence is always shit. Sophie Turner, she was okay in Game of Thrones where she split screen time with a dozen other central characters, but she's not good enough to be the focal point of a 2 hour film where she's on screen 90% of the time. I've always thought of it like wrestling, you can be a good mid-carder but to be that main event attraction you need "IT" and she doesn't have It. Same for Jon Snow, I remember that Pompei film they did with him a few years ago, not leading man material on the big screen.
