Can you imagine what would happen if Hobbs & Shaw outgrossed all the Fast movies in terms of worldwide box office? Diesel's fragile ego would be crushed.
I really can't see it surpassing Fast 7 especially since that movie also had the Paul Walker factor (aka - seeing him in the series for the final time).

You have a valid point there. But stranger things have happened.

Re: Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (August 2, 2019)

Despite my previous feelings about this film (which are still present even after seeing this movie), I still went ahead and watched it on opening day and I gotta say, I enjoyed it for what it was.

A fun, summer blockbuster movie.

My only problem with this film is the Deckard Shaw character.....Like, are we the audience suppose to just act like him murdering Han in cold blood never happened? Or that we're somehow supposed to like his character at all after what he did? It seems like they're going for a second chance/redemption arc for his character or something to that effect.

Whatever.

And no, him saving Dom's kid doesn't negate the fact that he straight up murdered someone that was a part of his so called "family".

It exceeded my expectations as I liked the flick way more than I thought I would.

In some aspects it even surpasses some of the main Fast movies, specifically in the 'intriguing villain' department as Idris Elba delivered. Brilliant actor and brilliant character.

He was probably supposed to be a villain that pops up during the series. Think they changed their minds on it because Statham is a proven draw in Asia. Combining the Rock and Statham is going to see max return on any film they star in world wide.

So yeah they probably hit the reset button on the character because him as an anti-hero would be far more money making.

I had a blast with this movie. My kind of action film. It's just a ton of fun. It's very funny too, The Rock and Statham are comedic gold when they are bantering and bickering. The way they just riff and ad-lib off each other is hysterical. Some real badass over-the-top action scenes. The third act climax battle was my favorite. Idris Elba aka The Black Superman was a great villain, you could tell Idris had fun playing this role and chewing up the scenery. Vanessa Kirby is a completely charismatic badass.

The surprise cameos had us rolling! One cameo in particular will guarantee to be a huge crowd pleaser and have the audience rolling in their seats!

If you love big, loud, macho fun and funny buddy action films that you can just kick back and enjoy then this movie is for you. If you're the type who is easily bothered by plot holes and contrivances, stay away from this blockbuster. Honestly, I’m so down for more of these movies. The ending definitely is setting up more, and I’d rather see more of this duo than any of the other Fast & Furious crew.

I also really enjoyed the movie. The only issue I have with it is the same one I been having with the latest Fast and furious movies- at no point did I felt that our main characters were in danger.

Like they could withstand rockets , bullets etc with barely any scratch. Even the marvel movies learned from this and made their main villains force to be reckoned with.

Besides that the movie was just plain fun. Wish they gave Roman a few lines his look definitely stood out I am interested to see more of him on the big screen
