For as bad as some of the sequels were, I'm still a Myers/Halloween mark, so I'm still intrigued at what they come up with.

You're not the only one. I'm also in the weird minority that don't think Sheri Moon Zombie is a terrible actress.
The original Carpenter Halloween is one of my favourite movies of all time, I actually welcome some new life being breathed into the franchise. I will reserve judgement about whether Danny McBride is a good fit until I see it.

Personally I'm not too upset about the idea of a sequel or even a full on reboot. The premise of Halloween could actually be even scarier in 2017. Most places around here don't do door-to-door trick or treating, for example, because they're afraid of what could happen to their kids. Maybe if they took that sort of angle with it, it'd be really different.
I'm not a huge fan of Zombies first attempt, but I'll go one further and say that H2 was close to a horror masterpiece for me. It's dark, gritty, incredibly brutal and at times beautiful. I know it's pretty much universally hated, but I absolutely loved it. It's probably my second favorite in the series next to the original.

As for the new one coming up next year, I'm fearful that McBride doesn't quite get it. However, I'm willing to give him and Green a shot. I just don't like the idea of continuing from the original part 2. It's going to confuse the hell out of casual fans and you're also going to have to explain the absence of Laurie and Dr. Loomis. It didn't work in the horrid "Halloween Returns" script, and I don't see it working here. They'd be better off starting from scratch. Especially since this will give the original film three different timelines now.

I really can't hate any movie that uses Nights in White Satin as much as it does.

I hated RZ's movies, he ruined Michael. Anyways I'm very excited for this I can't wait.

I liked the mask they used in Zombie's movies and Tyler Mane did a good job as Myers IMO. Not really a fan of his Halloween movies as a whole though.

I'm not really a fan of them following the new film after Halloween II. But hey, let's see what they can do.

I was hoping they'd do a 'Halloween' TV Series to be honest.

Highlighting his upbringing and then that fateful night on Halloween in 6 or so episodes.
