Carpenter praising it is good. If he does the music then movie should be pretty scary!

For me, Carpenter praising it means nothing. No offense to him, but his recent films haven't exactly instilled confidence in his words (The Ward and Ghost of Mars). He even produced the horrible Fog remake. I'll take what he says with a grain of salt and hope the film is good on its own merits.

It better be good after the crappy rob zombie remakes

I am beginning to wonder if Jimmie's endorsement of Terminator: Genisys was really a secret ploy to regain the Terminator rights back.

What really excites me about this remake (aside from McBride and Green's involvement) is the fact Jason Blum is on board. I am a big fan of what Blumhouse Productions have done for the horror genre. I mean just look at the results of M. Night Shyamalan's collaborations with them. They've dragged that man out of the abyss and begun to redeem him a little.

Terminator Genysis was obviously going to be terrible. It had Jai Courtney and Emilia Clarke and it was PG-13.

Cameron endorsed T3 & Salvation when they came out, and later trashed them, which I why I didn't trust his endorsement of Genesys. Jim is apparently very polite... or they paid him.

Well this was unexpected. Gordon Green is hit and miss but he can be great, and I didn't know McBride wrote stuff outside of comedy. Definitely intrigued and I can't not be excited about a Carpenter backed Halloween sequel.
DC likes this.

Danny McBride says new Halloween will be dark & vicious

Last night the hollowed grounds of horror shook as the master himself John Carpenter took to his Facebook to announce not only had the new HALLOWEEN been given a release date, but also that the film would be directed by David Gordon Green and co-written by Green and none other than Kenny Fuc*ing Powers himself Danny McBride.

Talk about epic, unexpected news!

We heard Carpenter's side of things, but today we get an update on David Gordon Green and Danny McBride with their thoughts on the announcement.

Director David Gordon Green:

John Carpenter’s Halloween was a monumental horror film experience for me and millions of film fans. It’s an honor to be working with this creative team to carve a new path in the tale of Michael Myers.

Co-Writer Danny McBride:

David and I are thrilled to step outside of our comedic collaborations and dive into a dark and vicious horror. Nobody will be laughing.

Long-time HALLOWEEN producer Malek Akkad:

It’s been a long journey with many starts and stops, but I can honestly say that I’ve never been more excited than by the team that we have assembled for the new ‘Halloween’. I truly feel this film will thrill fans, old and new, as well as being a high point in this legendary franchise.

Blumhouse's own Jason Blum even took to Twitter to post the first pic of the "Halloween Team".

And just for fun, here are fellow horror directors Ti West (HOUSE OF THE DEVIL) and Mike Flanagan's (HUSH, OCULUS) reactions.

David Gordon Green & Danny McBride are smart, inspired choices to takeover the HALLOWEEN franchise. Very cool.
— Ti West (@Ti_West) February 10, 2017

This is great news - David Gordon Green is a fantastic choice for this! https://t.co/eHWSKOn8B3
— Mike Flanagan (@flanaganfilm) February 9, 2017

Very cool news all around and great to see the enthusiasm and support reaching up through the fan base all the way to the top names in horror today. Flanagan is an especially interesting response being that he was rumored to be the man to take the helm back a few months ago.

Now we just have to wait for Mr. Rob Zombie to chime in with HIS thoughts...

Got a really good feeling about this. McBride's stuff always has an undercurrent of someone right on the edge. Plus, when he came to Hollywood he was hoping to make horror movies. Wrote a ton of horror spec scripts.

Re: Halloween (October 19th, 2018) Written by Danny McBride of all people

Absolutely love Halloween and it's probably my favourite horror film of all time.

I really had wished they'd stop re-making films and perhaps if anything create a mini Halloween TV Series highlighting Michael's childhood to see what sort of things he had got up to prior to the murders and then ending with that faithful night he decided to stalk a babysitter he laid eyes on. I absolutely HATED the idea from the second film onwards that he and Laurie were related.
