It could be amazing, if done right.
I totally agree. Storyline structure of TAS and gritty aesthetics of Knightfall/Arkham -- just the right mix for me

I do like your idea of Black Mask. I always expected him to show up in the Nolan movies because he's that type of dark, megalomaniacal character you'd see in a political version of Batman. It would be interesting because it'd be the first official live-action take on the character

So he can write/direct the 12th Batman movie in 14 years but can't write up a Armageddon 2?

I am only here for the arcade.

Sounds awesome SKIP . I have a few ideas for how the story would come together. I would do the Roman Sionis and Matt Hagen origin together, where they both grew up in the same neighborhood so Hagen was involved with the Sionis family because of the childhood friendship.

Overtime Sionis would be ready to claim his family fortune and take the head of the crime org from his father, but Hagen, a struggling actor who was involved in a tragic car accident severely disfiguring his face, would ask for a loan from his childhood friend to purchase this experimental clay product that could regenerate his face. It would turn out to be temporary, and, when Hagen couldn't pay the loan, Sionis' father would force his son to "take care of the situation" or he would never get the reigns to the kingdom. Then Sionis, donning the black skull mask, to stop Hagen from seeing his face, would turn on his friend and drown him in the clay product, leaving him for dead.

From there, Hagen would transform into Clayface, and he would begin to kill all those who killed him, before discovering that the guy in the "Black Mask" was his friend Roman Sionis.

During this time, you could have Red Hood picking off random thugs and trying to take down the Sionis family "permanently", while Batman has to stop him and Clayface. There could be clever ways to tie everyone into the story together, but I think my Clayface/Black Mask tie-in would work well.

Forgot about Black Mask! How about Black Spider? He's a vigilante who kills, maybe he can be like the Punisher who gets Batman to turn on his code!

Wow THANOS, that's quite an interesting scenario that you webbed there. I can buy it, it has a tragic feel of the old horror movies like Eyes Without A Face -- there's ways of making that storyline legitimately scary

Call me crazy but I see Iwan Rheon of GOT in the role of Black Mask

That would be something different to explore. I think Black Spider and Batman definitely could have a relationship like Daredevil and Punisher if they ever decided to go down that route and it would be unique because the motivations of Spider are different than Punisher. I don't see him ever being a character in the movies but he could be a nice addition if they made a show out of it for sure

That's exactly what I was going for with it. I truly believe it could be an engaging, terrifying, and heartbreaking story all in one. Have you watched the Clayface arc in BTAS? It's always worth a re-watch imo.

And Iwan Rheon as Roman Sionis? That would be fantastic !! I love him as Ramsay, and he was excellent in Misfits as well. I can picture Sionis as a tough Tony Montana type growing up with Matt Hagen as his Manny, before the latter drifts off slightly to try and become an actor and be legitimate. During this time, Roman can dive even further into his father's crime business.

EDIT: Fuck it, cast Alfie Allen as Matt Hagen/Clayface and rekindle that epic dynamic .

I did. It's been a long time but I remember it being emotional. I'm thinking about rewatching the entire first 2 seasons very soon actually, I'll make sure to keep an eye out for that episode

I'm just casting according to the ears and jawline

but seriously he'd be perfect for your version because he can come off very sympathetic and nice then turn into a maniacal monster with his facial expressions. He plays a similar character on GOT and he's brilliant at it

I'm down for an Affleck-directed Batman. I just hope we see a new on-screen villain, but I'm doubting it, especially since The Joker is active in Suicide Squad.

Re: Rumor: Ben Affleck to write & direct 'The Batman' movie

The Riddler or maybe Black Mask would be nice IMO, but i highly suspect it will be The Joker, esp with SS out soon. I doubt Leto will be used in just one movie TBH.

I do wonder though, is this going to be a prequel or a sequel. There are certainly stories to tell in both regards.

Re: Rumor: Ben Affleck to write & direct 'The Batman' movie

Lets get either A) A villain who has never really been done justice in a film (Riddler, Mr Freeze, and even Scarecrow to a point) or lets get one that has never been in a movie (Clayface, Black Mask, etc).

Honestly, I'd be down for the Ventriloquist and Scarface. I'm not even joking.
