Re: Rumor: Ben Affleck to direct 'The Batman' for 2018 release

If BvS is anything to go by, i fucking can't wait for this. Affleck was the shining light IMO.

Hope they go more into his backstory over the last 20 years and his motivation for becoming what he has become. As for villians, probably will be the Joker, due to SS, but i would like to Black Mask have a try out TBH, could be interesting. Fully expecting Joker though.

I hope not. I am fine with Batman tackling the Supernatural or Alien like villains in the Justice League movies but having them in his solo movies would be so jarring IMO. Keep that stuff for the comics and cartoons please.

My feelings for those characters aside I also don't want Ben Affleck having to deal with an excess of CGI in his first directing duties on a Blockbuster. Give him a more grounded story to focus on so he can get use to the scope and scale of these movies.

To each their own, but I can only take so many re-depictions of Joker, Riddler, Penguin, etc. I feel it's time for something that truly tests Bat's abilities. They could combine Black Mask, or someone similar, into the story as the mob boss who turned him into Clayface, to provide a grounded enemy as well. Clayface would be trying to kill Black Mask's entire mob, and Batman could be attempting to stop him and show him a better way, which makes them antagonistic.

I know he's already a killer in this universe, but they could tie in Red Hood into the film as well, and use Superman's death as a way for Batman to return to his original stance on killing.

Thanos is only beaten because he allows himself to be, and he only allows himself to be beaten because, in spite of his ambition to attain ultimate power, he sub-consciously knows that he's not worthy of it.

I must of missed the part in BvS where Batman snapped Lex Luthor's neck

Salty comic book fans need to get over that car chase scene already. Ben will be in complete control of his Batman movie. So that means goons probably won't die and Joker's Suicide Squad costume can be changed. Nothing is set in stone.

This is just about the only thing in this DC cinematic universe that I'm interested in -- does make me wish that we'd get a television series like Daredevil instead of movies since it helps with character development and because we haven't had a good Batman show since TAS -- and that ruled (I'd love to see them explore the entire rogue of villains with this version);

After seing Harley Quinn in the trailer and Affleck's portrayal of Batman, I do see this having quite a bit of potential if they treat it as it's own thing and don't get other superheroes involved too much

They probably will. They already introduced Killer Croc so the other supermutants might make their way into this. As long as it's more like the TAS/Arkham games/Knightfall vibe and less like Schumacher then I can live with it. Personally I much rather see Batman grounded in reality, but it CAN work with enough grittiness behind it

Batman: Arkham Unhinged

Arkham Unhinged, the prequel comic book to Rocksteady’s Arkham City during which Hugo Strange attempts to lock up the only remaining “outlaws” in Gotham – Batman, Catwoman and Two-Face.

I'll sign off on that today SKIP . Use the visual of Clayface from Arkham City and the storyline/character development from BTAS, while replacing Roland Daggett with Black Mask. They could bring Red Hood into this as well, so Clayface and Red Hood will be after Black Mask, while Batman has to try and stop both of them while bringing in Black Mask alive.

It could be amazing, if done right.
