MCU Discussion Thread

Since the influx of so many Marvel projects, I decided we should have a thread about the whole MCU. Here we can discuss upcoming projects that don't require their own threads (or are at least very far in the future), post news/interviews, talk about the older projects as well as have fun speculating about possible new additions to the MCU (characters, locations, artefacts, etc.) Of course, those projects that have their own pages, can be discussed here as well, and movies that are not part of the MCU (The Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men, etc.) but are based on Marvel characters. Feel free to post anything related to the subject and remember the point of the thread is to have fun while brainstorming what would be good or bad to happen.

Spoiler for Marvel Movies timeline + DC:

-------------------------------------------

Here are some of my speculations:
1. Namor the Sub-Mariner. It makes sense to me that with the MCU reaching into every possible corner of the Marvel Universe, the only "undiscovered" territory that has remained - the ocean - should be explored.

As some might know, Namor is the king of the city of Atlantis; his first "modern" appearance had him suffering from amnesia and roaming the streets of New York, where the Human Torch found him and dropped him in the harbor, which restored most of his memory. Namor believed that humans had destroyed Atlantis (it had in fact suffered through several quakes but you can read all about that on Wikipedia) and set out to invade New York. He was stopped by the Fantastic Four of course; at one point he would stop fighting against the "surface dwellers" and start defending them with his superpowers, but for the most part Namor first and foremost remains loyal to Atlantis and his people. Namor would be a founding members of the Defenders alongside Doctor Strange and the Hulk, and the team would include the Silver Surfer. Namor brought an army of Atlanteans to aid the Captain America's forces in the climactic battle between the pro and anti-registration heroes during the Civil War, but they returned to the sea after Captain America surrendered.

With the upcoming movies involving the Fantastic Four and Black Panther (him and Namor have an interesting dynamic in the comics; there was even an Atlantis/Wakanda war but it took place in Avengers vs X-Men, so some may have erased that from their minds), it seems like a waste not to include Atlantis in some way. Iron Man 2 had a few Easter Eggs that could correspond with the possible inclusion of Namor: logos of a company named "Oracle" were seen, which Namor used to sponsor environmental care; and on SHIELD's map, an area off of the Eastern coast of Brazil was pinpointed, where Namor's private quarters are located.

Also, aside from Professor X not being included in the MCU and no confirmation for Namor, every other member of the Illuminati (Reed Richards, Black Bolt, Iron Man, Doctor Strange) will appear. Who are the Illuminati? Following The Kree-Skrull war, Tony Stark assembled a group of the most formidable minds and powerful beings in the universe: Charles Xavier, Reed Richards, Black Bolt, Namor, and Doctor Strange. T'Challa, the Black Panther and King of Wakanda, declined to be a part of the group and was vocal about his opinion that it was a bad idea. The powerful group worked behind the scenes to help protect Earth from the greatest threats to its safety. Though the build of the MCU would not allow the creation of such group, it would be interesting to see some of those heroes discuss the idea.

2. Crystal. Long story short, Crystal is part of the Royal family of the Inhumans. Crystal would meet up with the Human Torch and lead him to the secret New York base of her family. She briefly joined the Fantastic Four; ended up falling in love with Quicksilver, marrying him and giving birth to their daughter Luna; as well as becoming a member of the Avengers.

Given that the Fantastic Four reboot at this point doesn't look as if it would actually make it to the sequel, having Crystal tie-in the Inhumans with the Avengers via meeting up with Quicksilver, seems the best case scenario to me. She can be introduced in Infinity War and be expansed as a character in the Inhumans movie, without taking large role in the former but connect it to the latter.

3. Despite the talks of The Runaways movie, it seems this project has been scraped and is not in Marvel's current to-do list. But I think that should they go the route with teenager superhero team, the Young Avengers would be much better fit.

You obviously have the inspiration from the Avengers. You have the founding members Iron Lad, Hulkling, Patriot, Wiccan, Hawkeye (Kate Bishop), Stature, as well as Vision (Jonas) and Speed.

- Iron Lad: Nathaniel Richards was rescued by his time-travelling adult self Kang the Conquerer, who took him through time to show him the battles that would result in his transformation to Kang, but Nate ends up horrified. Nate takes the time traveling technology from Kang and transports himself to the past, hoping for the Avengers' assistance. The team has been disbanded however and Nate is able to locate the next generation of Avengers, whom have some tie to the original team.
- Hulkling: He is a shape-shifter who also possesses enhanced strength and healing. He is the son of Kree hero Captain Mar-Vell and the Skrull princess Anelle; he is a Kree-Skrull hybrid (which causes a lot of troubles).
- Patriot: Was revealed to be the grandson of super-soldier Isaiah Bradley and while he initially had no superhuman abilities, he later developed abilities that he claimed he received through a blood transfusion from his grandfather. This was later revealed to be a lie, as it was revealed he obtained them through drug use.
- Wiccan: He is the reincarnated son of the Scarlet Witch and the original Vision. Billy uses magic for various effects, such as casting spells for flight, lightning generation, and locating people, and activates these spells by repeating the intended effect out loud. Speed is his twin brother.
- Kate Bishop: While Kate has no superhuman abilities, she is competent with a bow and arrow as well as a sword. She adopted the codename Hawkeye with the blessing of Captain America, who bestowed to her the original Hawkeye's bow and arrows as a gift.
- Stature: Daughter of former Ant-Man, the late Scott Lang. She has the power to change size at will. Initially planning on running to Los Angeles to join the Runaways before learning of the group's existence, she instead tracked down the Young Avengers along with Kate, convincing them to allow her membership.
- Vision: Based on the Iron Lad tech, contains both the Vision's programming and Nathan's emotions.
- Speed: He is the reincarnated son of the Scarlet Witch and the Vision, and thus the twin brother of Wiccan. Though he was part of the Vision's contingency plan, he was not an original team member. He is a speedster who can also accelerate atomic matter as well as destabilize it.

While Wiccan and Speed being reincarnated sons of the Scarlet Witch is questionable at this point, there are plenty of interesting subplots: Hulkling's relation to the Kree-Skrull races, the creation of super-soldiers after Captain America, expansion of the use of Pym particles as well as Kate Bishop's relation with Hawkeye.

The most important part here though is the build-up for the next big villain for the Avengers. A time traveling warlord from alternative Earth, Kang has been known by many names and is one of the Avengers' oldest foes. His goal has almost always been the same; to find, defeat, and conquer the greatest warriors and civilizations throughout time and space. Though he could easily destroy the Avengers with the power of time-travel, Kang's warped code of honor drives him to defeat the Avengers head on, thereby proving his mastery of strategy and combat (though you can imagine how that usually ends).

Kang is highly dangerous because aside from his knowledge of time traveling technology (the first such techology he used was created by Doctor Doom), Kang's convoluted travel history means that he has various selves spread in time and as such has created multiple alternative timelines; in one case in the comics, he was able to manipulate the Avengers from one of those alternative universes.

If presumebly the Avengers go through both Ultron and Thanos (at least for the time being), an equally dangerous new foe would be required for the MCU. Kang also has ties with the Fantastic Four and has encountered many of Earth's heroes. The time traveling would allow for Kang to be presented as big threat, but at the same time he could be defeated, without necessary diminishing his level of danger.

(Well, this was long )

Thoughts?

Re: MCU Discussion & Speculation

I heard Namor is still kind of owned by Universal Marvel/Disney have the rights to make the movies but Universal has distributing rights same as Hulk. Universal obviously wants a piece of Marvel's pie so the only way I can see Namor showing up is as an Avengers Villain in Phase 4 and then in team up movies.

Movies I want to see is the Thunderbolts based on the current MCU this is I think would make sense to be on the team.

Current roster

Abomination Incredible Hulk
Deathlok AoS
Absorbing Man AoS
Grant Wade AoS

I would love to add a woman to the roster but Marvel has no Female Villains yet. The ones I would like to see most are Asgardians and they won't fit imo (Enchantress and Hela) though Enchantress Sister is in one episode of the AoS. I would say Madam Mask would have been a great Ironman Villain too bad they aren't going to make a 4. Of course they can add heroes like they do in the comics so I add Hawkeye and make him leader also hope for She Hulk so there I have a woman in the roster.
Finally if I said about Namor happens I put him in the Thunderbolts to make up for what will go done.

Hopeful roster

Namor Avengers 4
Madam Mask IronMan 4
Hawkeye
She Hulk
Abomination Incredible Hulk
Deathlok AoS
Absorbing Man AoS
Grant Wade AoS

I could be wrong but don't Universal own the rights to Namor because of some loophole?

You're right they have distributing rights but Marvel can still make a movie they just have to give Universal some money Hulk also btw. I think this is one of the reasons we haven't seen a Hulk 2. But Namor can still be used as a character like Hulk.

I could Definatly see that. The runaways IMO doesn't have big screen appeal but you throw on Netflix slap the marvel logo to it. Bam you got hit TV show
