Bret vs Austin WrestleMania 13

I watched this match again last night and I know people might not agree but to me this was the greatest match in wwe history. The emotion, the storytelling etc, everything was a master piece. Another thing is stone cold was on another level before he broke his neck. He went toe to toe with Bret and he wasn’t out of place. It’s a shame he had the neck injury. I just wanted to show appreciation to the greatest superstar of all time and the greatest technical wrestler of all time. They both put on a master piece that will stand the test of time. I know they both don’t flip around like your Adam cole’s and Jonny gargano but these two knew how to wrestle. Guys like cole and gargano should learn how to work a match by watching austin vs Bret.

I 100% agree. The GOAT match in WWE history. My favorite match of all time PERIOD. And from two of my favorites of all time. Everything about this angle and match was perfect, from before Survivor Series '96 right up until the end of this match. I wouldn't change anything.

It's like they are coming out of the wood works and making Bret Vs Austin threads.

Don't get me wrong, fantastic match. Top 5 matches in the history of the wrestling business very easily.

My favorite match of all time. WCW was kicking WWF's ass at the time. Was watching this match with a bunch of NWO marks and they were like who the hell is this Austin guy.

Definitely one of a few matches that checks all the boxes for what was accomplished. Incredible it played out so well. Probably better than anyone expected going into the match.

Re: Bret vs Austin wrestlemania 13

Bret Hart is a damn miracle worker. This guy is the best in ring general I've ever seen. He's a great storyteller and adds an element of realism that today's wrestling sorely lacks.

Bret vs Bulldog (summerslam and IYH)
Bret vs Perfect (summerslam and KOTR)
Bret vs Austin
Bret vs 123 Kid on the RAW
Bret vs Owen WM X and Summerslam

No shit - these are some of THE greatest matches in WWE history.

I recall going in and thinking it was such a predictable outcome, given that Austin didn't have a traditional submission hold and no way where they going to book Bret into quitting. Incredible match.

It's not a bad opinion to have. The match itself was great. The ending was special and the match did so much for both the competitors and the promotion in the longterm.

Re: Bret vs Austin wrestlemania 13

It is definitely one of the greatest matches ever. But the greatest?

The way the match started was not really extraordinary. But as the match progressed we witnessed something special. And the ending was a real masterpiece in wrestling story telling. The image of blood oozing from Austin's face as he refused to give up is one of the most iconic in this business.

Now when we look at a match like HBK v Taker from WM 25. It was simply fire from bell to bell. And then you have their match from BB 97.

It's hard to tell which is the greatest among them. But I can see the argument for each one of them.
