Spring Stampede 94 is one of the Greatest Cards Ever

Before anyone here calls for my head, rewatched this one for the hundredth time this morning. So fucking good. Look at this stacked card.

Look at all those HOFr's and star power lets dive even deeper:

Johnny B. vs DDP

This was before DDP was DDP but I will say this, JBB was over like rover with the crowd, and these guys had a solid 6 minute opener, not too long not too short, right guy def went over in Badd at the time. Wish he didn't have those lame gimmick names for his 500 moves but it is what it is. Still solid, pretty accurate star rating here

Steve Regal vs Pillman

Fuck. Where to start, these guys put on a clinic, and they last 5 minutes were at it like fucking crazy. You can kinda see where it was going when the announcer announces time left, but man it got frantic at the end and the crowd really got into it these guys can put on a show. I think it was 3-4 stars tbh.

Nasty Boyz vs Cactus and Maxx Payne

If you have never seen this match it is one of the greatest hardcore matches of all time, these guys brought the fucking heat. Everything was stiff as hell. Absolute crazy fucking spots including a piledriver through a flimsy ass table onto. Yeah some blown spots but everything was so real and convincing, this match was so far ahead of its time when it came to hardcore wrestling. If it had more star power meltzer would have rated it higher. 5 stars

Steve Austin vs Muta

A Steve Austin deep cut here, Steve Austins motor just wouldn't stop. no Rest holds no bullshit these guys went at it, only knock here is the fucked finish. But I loved the hell out of both of these guys, especially Muta back in the day. I think the star rating here is accurate.

Sting Vs Rude

Whats nuts is this is the worst match on the card, next to Badd and DDP. Started out red hot but slowed down quite a bit with a lot of rest holds. But no one had a come back like babyface sting and the crowd really got into it at spots. I think this was actually a 3 star match

Bunkhouse Buck vs Dustin

Fuck this match is good. Really good. Buck, some of you may or may not know, but he was the redneck that looked like he came straight out of the 1800s that WCW contracted with Colonel Rob Parker. He put on so-so matches usually but this....THIS was awesome. These two went at it in a gusher. Do not skip this match because they bring the heat. Best match of bucks career, and one of Dustins best. Was violent, hard hitting, and pretty good psychology to boot, and fuck man the crowd was into it. 4 1/2 stars you can argue 5.

Vader vs Bossman

Another hard hitting match. These two were so good and had great chemistry, Bossman was a tad out of his prime here, but this match was designed to make Vader look like a world beater and boy did it ever deliver. Vader scared me when I was a kid and this match was a prime example why, he demolished the boss at the end. But it was hard hitting throughout, star rating is accurate.

Steamboat vs Flair

Need I say more? Anytime these 2 get together its a purist wet dream. These two couldnt put on a bad match even today, yeah they were a step behind 89 but the step was so so slight. Amazing psychology, and Steamboats offense is so fucking convincing. That coupled with Flairs ability to sell like a boss led to a real gem to close the show. Absolutely love this match, and really the presentation of 94 makes this aesthetically more pleasing in ways compared to 89. 5 Stars.

Also to note, Heenans commentary was on POINT in this PPV. He was pretty much fresh out of WWF and delivered the quips, him and Schiavone have excellent chemistry here.

In conclusion, I actually think this PPV compares to any PPV ever, including WM17. I know that is heresy to some people but if you are a true wrestling fan and have never seen this one, I highly encourage you to go back and watch it. You will see exactly what I am talking about, especially with the Boyz vs Cactus/Maxx, Buck and Dustin, and Flair Steamboat.

Who the fuck would call for your head

Best WCW PPV of the 90's, and maybe the best one of them all. Still, I might side with GAB89

The WM17 loyalists that think nothing ever has or will top it, which to be fair, is the top 3-5 cards ever no doubt.

To each their own, both absolutely fantastic PPVs in my eye, just GAB89s undercard is slightly weaker to me then SS94

I agree, that was a great card. Flair/Steamboat was one of the best feuds in wrestling history.

Re: Spring Stampede 94 is one of the Greatest Cards Ever

It's up there with stuff like GAB89 & BB92 as some legitimate 10/10 cards. That being said, I could probably watch WCW/JCP from about 83 to 94 endlessly. They had some rough years (91 for example) but it just feels naturally wrestling. Hard to describe that intangibility. WWE/F always felt too much like variety entertainment than pro-wrestling while WCW just hits the spot.

uhhhhhh there was some of good matches there dude. Yeah the crowd reaction wasn't there but you need to go back and watch some of those AA matches in the feud. Go watch some of those Dustin/Vader matches too. Deep cuts for the natural but he is such a fucking good wrestler. and the match at this PPV was a 10.

I remember all this stuff, even got a lot still on VHS and the Stud feud was typical of the really corny campy ideas they were holding onto before Eric Bischoff finally decided to phase a lot of that out. More power to you but I couldn't stand Bunkhouse Buck in any match much less with Dust, especially looking back on it now, and it always reminds me of that horrible King Of The Road match that came later.
