Rate the old segment: Austin 3:16

I made a thread some time ago about CM Punk's pipebomb and starting a series of threads over time about old segments (including promos, backstage/in-ring skits) and rating them on a scale of 1-10.

This time, it will be about Steve Austin's King of the Ring promo, with many saying it was the start of the Attitude Era.

On a scale of 1 being the worst, and 10 being amazing, what would you rate it?
I give it a 10/10, it's iconic and timeless. One of the most important speeches in professional wrestling, and to Steve Austin's career.

It has to be a 10. That promo birthed the 3:16 shirts that dominated pop culture in the late 90s. You couldn't watch a baseball, basketball, football, soccer, hockey, roller derby, curling, chess etc. game without seeing one.

3:16 was cool when wrestling was the most uncool thing imaginable (to the outside world).

The birth of a star who paved the way to the AE and became the FOTC, 10/10.

In the words of Tye Dillinger, "10".

I just don't see anyone giving this segment a number lower than 10.

100/10

No seriously this changed everything. To think non-roided HHH was pegged to win this KOTR and we never get this moment. Goes to show WWE almost always gets it wrong as they were gonna have a C minus player like 1996 version of Helmlsey win that KOTR. Sure Austin could have done something at another time but hard to believe it anywhere near "Austin 3:16

It is one of those what-if scenarios I think about sometimes if HHH really did win it. I don't think we would have gotten a promo this intense, and it makes you wonder if Austin still would have rose to stardom or not.

10/10 isn't doing it justice. Can't rate it high enough. This promo was the genesis of saving the World Wrestling federation.

Re: Rate the old segment: Austin 3:16

9.5

I've seen this clip probably about 100 times and I'd give it a 10 but two things hurt it in my eyes now: Austin's old music and Hayes' "Anything but humble" line for some reason makes me cringe a little.

But yeah, monumentally awesome and the fact that he could cut it while his mouth was stitched together only makes it more incredible. Austin was amazing.

Re: Rate the old segment: Austin 3:16

This is a flat out 10... it might even exceed that number. How many promos in the history of wrestling are as memorable as this?
