What If - Sid Eudy stays with the WWF in April 1992
By his own accounts, Sid Eudy tried to quit the WWF immediately after the 1992 Royal Rumble. He wasn’t upset with the backstage antics of Hogan, who was visibly angry with Vince McMahon after the crowd turned on him. Vince talked Sid out of it, and agreed to turn him heel. So the replacement for Hogan as a babyface was instead made into Hogan’s next villain opponent.
Four months later Sid was the top heel in the company and beginning his feud with The Ultimate Warrior. He had already wrestled Warrior once on a post WrestleMania house show, but dissatisfaction with Hellwig and the structure of the matches led him to walk out of the WWF after a second house show match in Boston. The WWF then suspended him, and finally granted him a release from his contract as 1992 grew to a close.
But what if Sid had stayed on? Warrior was booked to go over Sid by DQ, at least in the short run. Sid thus was being protected. What would have happened by SummerSlam? Or when we enter the crucial fall period, where WWF began its transition to its New Generation - if Sid is still around does Vince go with him as champion? Bret got the nod because the other candidates were too old or young (Savage, Santana, Martel, Michaels) or too one dimensional.
What is the WWF like if Sid Justice sticks around into 1993, and perhaps beyond?
