Just a random topic but - the wrestling world has always been full of tragedies, and people abusing steroids, drugs and dying early. I don't need to name names, everyone knows there's been a ton of them.
I've always found it very very comforting knowing that the absolute top, top legends of all time all seem to be doing well though.
Hulk Hogan - Ton of money (his lawsuit win did help though, as divorce was a killer) - but mostly he never has anything bad to say about anyone. All his interviews are super positive and talking up about people. I don't know how many hockey fans around here - but he's almost like Wayne Gretzky, way too humble, always talking nice about people. For all of the hatred guys like Bret, Warrior, Macho Man and others had/have for Hogan - you never hear Hogan attack them or talk badly about them. He's always all about being gracious, humble, and wanting to get along, forgive/make up with whoever. And I like that.
Shawn Michaels. Man - for all of the deaths and tragedies in wrestling history, with all the horror stories you hear about HBK's past it's stunning how well he's doing. But he absolutely turned a corner and seems to be doing fantastic. Happily married, family, very rich as well. Still looks to be in great shape. He's also always a good interview - never bitter/attacking anyone, doing very well.
The Rock. Self explanatory almost, but outside of simply his success it's incredible how great his PR
image is. So many people in holywood have had horror stories and scandals about them (alcohol, drugs, racist rants, etc) - but Rock's image is outstanding. For all the talk about him possibly running for president one day - i don't know how much truth there is to that or not - but if ever you want to have a celebrity run for office, it helps a ton when you have as good character/reputation as Rock, so it's good to know.
Stone Cold. He seems to be doing great too. Still very rich - seems happy, not bitter about anything, no regrets. Always happy to be interviewed/talk wrestling.
Those to me are probably the 4 biggest names in WWE history who are retired and they all are doing fantastic.
Soon to join them who also seem to be doing great:
John Cena. He seems to be extremely smart business-wise, and very protective of his personal image/reputation. I think he's going to do great in holywood the next few years, and manage to remain private (outside of the reality tv, mostly for show). No drugs/bitterness of any kind in his future.
HHH. Again, self explanatory. He's going to run the whole show it seems - and not only that he seems to be very, VERY good at it. NXT, and all the other stuff he's done. He's obviously also very well off in terms of money.
Undertaker. I suppose very little is known about his private live as he so rarely breaks kayfabe, but overall seems to be doing great too.
Jericho. Tons of success - not as big as Rock of course, but very well established in various ways (holywood, music, wrestling). Seems to be in great health, and have a ton of money, etc.
Like I said a random topic but it just makes me happy to see that for those who reached the absolute top of the mountain - they were able to find a way to make a living off of it and retire in health and with money to enjoy life, and all seem to be in a great place.
Hope the new generation of wrestlers continue this trend the next few decades.
