The Booking Game

Thought this might be a bit of fun & get some creative & thoughtful ideas. Basically I'm going to re book WrestleMania XV using only superstars that were a part of the show. You can remove performers from the show, must not book the same match, can not add those who were not a part of & must not change who was the champion at the time. Feel free to leave feedback or post what you would do, you can write storylines, a match card, results or all mentioned.

WrestleMania XV The Ragin' Climax

WWF Championship Triple Threat Match
The Rock (c) vs. Steve Austin vs. Mankind

This one is probably not so creative, but makes the most sense as these are the 3 most over superstars in the company. Steve Austin still leaves as champion as that is the finish the majority wanted.

The Undertaker w/Paul Bearer vs. The Big Show

The leader of the ministry of darkness takes on the corporations biggest member. Undertaker gets the win (It's WrestleMania).

Eight Man Non - Sanctioned Elimination Match for the Intercontinental, European & Hardcore Championship
Triple H, X-Pac, Billy Gunn (H) Road Dogg (I) vs. Shane McMahon (E), Kane, Ken Shamrock & Big Boss Man

Okay so this could either be a cluster fuck or a tonne of fun. If any champion get's pinned or submits during the match they will lose there title. DX eliminates all of Shane McMahons partners. Triple H Pedigrees X - Pac on the floor after a disagreement & leaves for backstage as the Outlaws chase him down. Both Triple H & The New Age Outlaws have left the building only leaving X -Pac & Shane. Eventually X - Pac gets himself back in the match & even though has lost a good friend, has regained the European title off Shane, leaving the crowd happy.

WWF Women's Championship
Sable (c) vs. Chyna

This should have been the title match imo. Chyna dominates Sable for an easy win here to become champion. Post match Nicole Bass makes her debut coming to the aid of Sable. A Stare down between the two amazons takes place, before anything happens they are split by officials.

WWF Tag Team Championship
Owen Hart & Jeff Jarrett (c) w/Debra vs. Goldust & Val Venis w/Ryan Shamrock & The Blue Meanie

Owen & Jarrett retain the tag titles against the odd pairing, a lot of interaction between Shamrock & Debra in this one on the outside, which distracts Val leading to a pin.

D'Lo Brown vs. Test

Simply a way to get the up & comer Test on the show & give him a win over an established star who can put on a great match.

Hardcore Match
Al Snow vs. Hardcore Holly

Al Snow gets his win back from the previous PPV, these guys end up brawling in the streets of philly. A fun opener to get the crowd hot.

Re: The Booking Game

Triple Threat WWF Championship Match
The Rock (c) vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Mankind

The match Vince Russo originally planned but I agree with Shawn Michaels that the main event rightfully should've been one-on-one between Rock and Austin but per your rule of not being able to the book the same match, I'm going with this as this is the only other rightful option for the main event of this Wrestlemania. Austin still wins the championship rightfully, finally getting it back after getting screwed out of it at Breakdown last September and beating Vince's chosen one in The Rock, sending the fans home happy.

The Undertaker vs. Ken Shamrock

Would've used Shamrock for this Ministry vs. Corporation match as he was more of a threat than Bossman being the legit badass he was and Shamrock had a good match with Undertaker the following month at Backlash, so I would just move that match down to Wrestlemania. The Undertaker still wins of course but Shamrock gives him a run for his money.

European Championship
Shane McMahon (c) (w/ Chyna) vs. Triple H

I'd book the two future brother-in-laws against each other and I'd have Chyna & Test interfere on behalf of Shane, leading to X-Pac doing a run-in to help his pal out against Chyna and Test, only to end up accidentally costing his buddy the match, giving Shane the victory and allowing him to retain the belt. Triple H can turn heel on X-Pac the next night on Raw out of frustration and join The Corporation, reuniting with Chyna and starting his new path as "The Game".

Four Corners Elimination Women's Championship Match
Sable (c) vs. Tori vs. Ivory vs. Jacqueline

I'm going to cheat here a little assuming we can't use anyone from the Heat pre-show and promote Ivory & Jacqueline to the main card and add them to the Women's Championship match. These four did have a Four Corners match for the Women's belt on Raw anyway. But as far as Sable vs. Chyna goes, Chyna was so above the Women's Title at this point and was put to much better use and much more effective in the main storylines with the top guys. Putting her in a match for the Women's Title at this point in time is a downgrade for her and they didn't need her for a programme with the other women as Sable was already a top draw and was booked as an ultimate vixen like Chyna, so you didn't need two fearless top women in the Women's division at the same time. Sable retains with Nicole Bass debuting.

World Tag Team Championships
Owen Hart and Jeff Jarett (c) (w/ Debra) vs. X-Pac and Kane

X-Pac and Kane teamed up a week later after Wrestlemania XV and beat Owen & Jarrett for the titles, so I would just move that match and title change up to Wrestlemania. Either have Kane get kicked out of The Corporation earlier for failing to help Chyna beat Triple H and X-Pac the previous month at St Valentines Day Massacre or in a rematch on Raw and have X-Pac take sympathy on Kane and help Kane out from an attack from Owen and Jarrett after a Handicap Match against them as he did, forming their new tag team or have X-Pac and Kane win the Battle Royal on the Heat before Wrestlemania, being the last two remaining in the ring, earning them a title shot against Owen and Jarrett on the main card, have them win the titles to the shock of everyone as it's a DX member and Corporation member winning the belts in their first tag team match together, and then have The Corporation kick Kane out the next night on Raw for being co-champions with the enemy and for refusing to give up his half of the belt and ditch X-Pac as his partner when the group demands him to, not wanting to be a puppet for The Corporation anymore, which would lead to X-Pac and Kane's brilliant storyline with X-Pac humanizing Kane and becoming his only friend.

Test vs. The Big Show

Have Vince kick Big Show out of The Corporation a little earlier after failing to defeat Austin on Raw and have Vince send Test to try and get payback on Show for Chokeslamming Vince after he slapped him & kicked him out of the group. I'm okay with either winning whether it's Show putting over the younger lion, Test or Big Show getting his first WWF PPV win in his first WWF PPV match.

Intercontinental Championship
Road Dogg (c) vs D-Lo Brown (w/ Ivory)

D-Lo and Henry were originally supposed to face Owen and Jarrett for the Tag Team Titles or have a 6-Intergender Match with D-Lo, Mark and Ivory against Owen, Jarrett and Debra but with Henry getting hurt and being out, I'd have D-Lo face Road Dogg for the IC belt, rekindling the DX/Nation feud here a little. I think these two would put on a show for the fans with their charisma, personality and entertaining theatrics. "Oh you betta recognize!" "Oh you didn't know?". I'd have Road Dogg retain and save the IC Title for D-Lo later in the year with his big Euro-Continental Title win, becoming the first person to hold the European and IC belts simultaneously.

Hardcore Championship
Billy Gunn (c) vs. The Big Bossman

We've already got Ministry vs. Corporation and DX vs. The Nation on the card, add DX vs. The Corporation in the form of this match. Bossman, the former Hardcore Champion, wants his belt back but comes up short against The Assman.

Val Venis vs. Goldust (w/ Ryan Shamrock and The Blue Meanie)

Despite them feuding and facing each other twice on PPV at Breakdown and Judgment Day, have them face each other again one-on-one but just with Venis as the babyface and Goldust as the heel this time with Ryan getting Goldust to try and get payback for her on Venis for dumping her. Unfortunantely for her, I'd have the popular Venis win.

Dumpster Match
Al Snow vs. Hardcore Holly

A continuation of their feud and indeed this would be a fun opener for ECW's homebase with their hardcore battle. I've given them a Dumpster Match as I already have a Hardcore Title match without them involved later in the card, so adding the Dumpster stipulation makes this hardcore match a little different from the one for the title. Dumpster matches are usually fun as evidenced by the previous year's Dumpster match between The New Age Outlaws and Cactus Jack & Chainsaw Charlie at Wrestlemania XIV and I'd expect no different with Snow and Holly competing in one. I like the idea of Snow and Holly taking it out to the streets in Philly like they usually did in their hardcore matches, maybe the match could end outside on the street with Snow dumping Holly or vice versa in a Dumpster that's on the street. Or they could just come back brawling to the arena and one of them gets dumped in one at ringside. I'm good with either.

Awesome stuff, Undertaker vs. Shamrock is such a good match up as they are both legit bad asses. I digged the match at Backlash '99, having this at WrestleMania would have been epic, compared to what they got.

X - Pac & Kane teaming up is a great move as Jarrett & Owen didn't really have a competitive team to go up against, Triple H vs. Shane is also an awesome pick to put on the show, especially how everything ended up.

The Dumpster match would be a shit tonne of fun & those guys worked so good together to be able to put on a solid opener. Plus as you mentioned the ECW crowd would have ate it up.

Re: The Booking Game

Hardcore Battle Royal for the WWF Hardcore Championship
Billy Gunn(c) vs. Big Boss Man vs. Al Snow vs. Hardcore Holly vs. Goldust vs. The Blue Meanie vs. Steve Blackman vs. Droz vs. Gillberg vs. Tiger Ali Singh

I wanna get the title of Mr. Ass so let's throw in a bunch of jobbers in there with him. I'd prefer Al Snow to win here. Picking with Head, not my heart here.

WWF Women's Championship
Sable(c) (with Tori) vs. Jacqueline (with Terri Runnels)

Get Sable in the ring with someone who doesn't completely suck, alright? She retains. Save Nicole Bass for later when Sable goes heel on Tori.

Gauntlet Match for the WWF Tag Team Championship
Owen Hart & Jeff Jarrett(c) (with Debra) vs. The Acolytes vs. The Legion of Doom vs. The Godfather & D'Lo Brown (with Ivory) vs. The Hardy Boyz vs. Mideon & Viscera vs. Too Much vs. The Public Enemy vs. Skull & 8-Ball

With The New Age Outlaws tying up two singles titles, I needed a serviceable team to take their place. So, I got eight of them. The Acolytes win here to add to The Ministry's momentum, as they're set to have a decent reign with the straps as Matt & Jeff chase them.

Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Championship
Road Dogg(c) vs. Ken Shamrock vs. Val Venis

Same case as the Hardcore Title, so either of the challengers can walk out IC Champ. Ryan Shamrock tries to get revenge on Venis, but ends up costing her "brother" Ken, who is not happy with her.

Tag Team Match for the European Championship
Shane McMahon(c) & Chyna (with Test) vs. Triple H & X-Pac

There's a big turn coming, but X-Pac's the only one not in on it. HHH apparently gets jumped by Test on his way to the ring, so he misses most of the match. When he does return to get the big tag to save the in peril X-Pac, he socks his friend in the face and lays him out with a Pedigree. Shane O'Mac gets the pin and celebrates as if he did all the work himself with The Corporation, who has a new member in The Game.

Hell in a Cell Match
The Undertaker (with Paul Bearer) vs. Kane

Undertaker has returned with a darker side, so The Corporation is running scared. Vinnie Mac wants The Deadman gone, but none of his soldiers want a piece of Taker. Kane is The Corporation's slave, so he has graveyard duty inside the cell in a rematch from the previous WM with the roles reversed. Instead of hanging Kane like he did Boss Man, Taker could light Kane on fire during or after the match. The Streak continues.

Four Way Elimination Match for the WWF Championship with Shawn Michaels as Special Guest Referee
The Rock(c) (with Vince McMahon) vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Mankind vs. Big Show (with Shane McMahon)
All four men had been intertwined since the beginning of the year involving the title, so why not put them together? Throw HBK in as ref to raise suspicion that Austin could get screwed over again based on the previous WM. Vince and Shane's dissention begins as they disagree on who should be The Corporation's crown jewel. Show looks strong as he eliminates Foley first and then falls to a Stunner/Rock Bottom/People's Elbow combo to exit the match. And duh, Austin beats Rock to become WWF Champion once again.

Hardcore Battle Royal for the WWF Hardcore Championship
Billy Gunn(c) vs. Big Boss Man vs. Al Snow vs. Hardcore Holly vs. Goldust vs. The Blue Meanie vs. Steve Blackman vs. Droz vs. Gillberg vs. Tiger Ali Singh

Same case with the IC Title applies here, get that belt off of Mr. Ass. But let's throw in the other battle royal jobbers in there as well. But I'd prefer Al Snow. Picking with my head, not my heart here.

WWF Women's Championship
Sable(c) (with Tori) vs. Jacqueline (with Terri Runnels)

Mega main event man, nice stuff. Undertaker & Kane inside the cell would be so epic considering that's where it all started.

Re: The Booking Game

So I thought i would continue with a different PPV, you're more than welcome to add your choice as well. This one is Starrcade '98, what was billed as the biggest show of the year, had a very underwhelming lineup besides the main event & opening match. This one will be interesting to see how we can change up the show to make it better with those who were on the show.

Starrcade '98 - Who's Next?

WCW Championship Match
Goldberg (c) vs. Ric Flair

The man who made Starrcade what it is, the nature boy takes on the undefeated streak of Goldberg. Basically the passing of the torch, this is Goldberg's company now. Goldberg get's the win & now adds another win against the who's who of professional wrestling.

No.1 Contender Match
Kevin Nash vs. Diamond Dallas Page

The two mega faces collide as the winner get's a shot for the big one at SuperBrawl '99. Both these guys are hugely over, but i'll give the win to Nash.

Losing Faction Must Disassemble
The Giant, Brian Adams & Scott Norton w/Vincent vs. Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio Jr. & Juventud Guerrera

It's david vs. goliath in a 6 man tag. The lwo were fizzling out with tension & not really going anywhere. So i thought might as well utilise the nWo members on this show & have them whipe out the latino world order. This would be fun as the lwo members would sell like crazy & be able to string together fun tandem offence, while the nwo demonstrates the brute strength. nWo get the win in this one.

No Holds Barred Match
Konnan vs. Eric Bischoff

I thought about whiping bischoff off the show, but figured this match up could be a lot of fun. Wolfpac & black/white are barred from ringside for this match. A fun brawl, which can get bischoff in some slight offence due to it being no DQ. Konnan get's the win over his former leader.

WCW Cruiserweight Championship Match
Billy Kidman (c) vs. Chris Jericho

The ever growing popular Jericho has made his return to the cruiserweight division to save it. Kidman is at the peak of his popularity around this time so i'll give the win to him. These two really would tear the house down during this period.

Perry Saturn vs. Norman Smiley

The lower card was getting a little tough, but i was able to string together this one. The derranged saturn takes on the over the top Smiley. Not only do these guys have a great connection with the fans, they also have the ability to steal the show as both men are solid in ring workers. Norman is on a roll so i'm giving him the win.

Ernest Miller w/Sonny Ono vs. Fit Finlay

The martial artist with the big mouth takes on arguably the toughest guy in the company Finlay. Miller's antics don't intimidate Finlay but I'll give Miller the win with help from Ono.

Re: The Booking Game

WCW Cruiserweight Championship
Billy Kidman(c) vs. Rey Mysterio Jr.

Kidman retains, but they're both winners in the end as they shake hands to hint at The Filthy Animals forming later on. LWO comes out for their match (and probably to jump Kidman) but Rey convinces them to let him pass in a show of respect.

LWO (WCW World Television Champion Konnan, Eddy Guerrero & Juventud Guerrera) vs. nWo Hollywood (Scott Norton, Brian Adams & Vincent)
The short-lived LWO will win one for WCW and take down Hogan's dysfunctional B-Team with some high-flying moves to get the crowd going. While Konnan is still Wolfpac, he takes some of the luchadores under his wing after Nash refuses to induct them into the red and black. That'll be a point of contention as we begin 1999.

Triangle Match
Chris Jericho (with Ralphus) vs. Perry Saturn vs. Fit Finlay

Lionheart survives against two hard-hitting midcarders that don't have much else going on will try to kill each other, stealing the pin from Saturn on Finlay for the victory. Expect him to move past the CW and TV Title pictures, as Jericho still wants Goldberg.

Four Corners Match
Norman Smiley vs. Prince Iaukea vs. Ernest Miller (with Sonny Onoo) vs. Jerry Flynn

Four jobbers who have no business being on the card, so why not put them in a match together? And the best part? Giant interrupts and lays all their asses out with Chokeslams. Bischoff and The Hitman aren't too far behind with a promo as they call out Flair, Nash and his mystery partner for the next match.

Six-Man Tag Team Match for control of WCW; If Flair and The Outsiders lose, they must leave WCW forever
Ric Flair & The Outsiders vs. Eric Bischoff, Bret Hart & The Giant

With Bischoff banning The Four Horsemen from the event, Naitch is forced to turn to some of his most hated foes in order to save his career but more importantly, get Easy E out of power. Nash having a surprise partner in Hall, who also wants to get Bischoff out of power, and facing Hart, who's been bullied into joining nWo Hollywood by Giant, make two interesting pairings. In the end, the distrust between Hall, Nash and Flair doesn't bubble over and Bret turns on the nWo as he walks out on the match after shoving Bischoff on his ass. Scott Steiner and Buff Bagwell run out to jump Bret, but they are met with a steel chair from The Hitman.

Flair gets revenge on Bischoff when he tries to run, tapping him out with the Figure-Four while Da Bad Guy and Nash take turns tasing Giant. While Bischoff and nWo Hollywood have been dealt with, The Nature Boss "owing" nWo Wolfpac one will be a huge story as we begin 1999.

WCW World Heavyweight Championship
Goldberg(c) vs. Diamond Dallas Page

Let Goldberg beat Giant or even Jericho at Halloween Havoc and DDP wins WW3 to earn this mega match. The exact same match is in real life where Goldberg retains. This begins the story where Page becomes obsessive with ending The Streak after coming so close at Starrcade and eventually turns heel in 1999 to get the Big Gold Belt off Goldberg. He succeeds at Spring Stampede in a 4-Way also involving Nash and Hogan but pins Hogan so Goldberg loses the strap without getting pinned and technically The Streak remains intact.

Re: The Booking Game

Triple Threat WCW Championship Match:
Goldberg vs Kevin Nash vs Ric Flair

Lionheart finally gets his long-awaited PPV match with Greenberg, whether that's a good thing or not remains to be seen. Either the DC crowd gets sent home happy with the most satisfying Goldberg squash yet or shocked when the cocky Cruiserweight does what Hogan couldn't do and ends The Streak. Guess that means Jericho wins WW3 this year too, so a nice bump up the card for him. To be honest, not sure who wins here

Match for control of WCW; If Flair loses, he must leave WCW forever
Ric Flair vs. The Giant (with Eric Bischoff)

Similar to what he did to Vader five years prior, Naitch chops down the younger Giant to save his career but more importantly, get Easy E out of power. And rest assured, the inevitable Flair-Bischoff match will go down on the 1/4 Nitro as The Nature Boy's first official act as WCW President.

Match to determine the #1 Contender to the WCW World Heavyweight Championship
Kevin Nash vs. Diamond Dallas Page

Nash's popularity hasn't been higher while DDP's is on the decline after coming close to upsetting Goldberg at Halloween Havoc. Big Sexy gets the win here to earn a date with the World Champion in the new year, causing Page to sulk further into a losing streak before he turns heel.

Four Corners Match
Norman Smiley vs. Prince Iaukea vs. Ernest Miller (with Sonny Onoo) vs. Jerry Flynn

Four jobber who have no business being the card, so why not put them in a match together? And the best part? Nash interrupts and lays all their asses out with Jackknifes before his match with DDP.

Champion vs. Champion
WCW World Television Champion Konnan vs. WCW Cruiserweight Champion Billy Kidman

Since all of Kidman's worthy challengers are busy fighting the nWo B-Team, I'll throw him against K-Dawg in a nice non-title clash of champions. Doesn't matter who wins, because in the end both guys shake hands to hint at The Filthy Animals forming later on.

Perry Saturn vs. Fit Finlay
Two hard-hitting midcarders who don't have much else going on, Saturn gets some momentum with the win here in a presumably serviceable match.

Six-Man Tag Team Match
nWo Hollywood (Brian Adams, Scott Norton & Vincent) vs. LWO (Eddy Guerrero, Rey Mysterio Jr. & Juventud Guerrera

Yay, cruiserweights still kick off the PPV! The short-lived group will win one for WCW and take down Hogan's B-Team with some high-flying moves to get the crowd going.
Awesome card. I like how you found a place for iaukea & Flynn. Goldberg vs Jericho, the match we wanted to see but we didn't get, nice match up.

Damn! That triangle match is huge. Kidman vs. Rey in a ladder match would have been epic & Guerrero/Jericho is money.
