NWA/TNA 2002: In the beginning...
Edit: This is my first BTB thread (on these forums anyways).Backstory
Ever since his departure from the WWE, one man has embarked on his journey to create the greatest wrestling promotion in the world, and to establish his own legacy. This man has deprived himself from the public wrestling scene for a short while, but in the shadows he lurks as not a wrestler no more, but rather as a business man. This man has invested all of his life investments into a new product that he has established himself, and has even managed to capture the interest of the NWA into producing a brand new promotion that will be placed on the map: that show being known as NWA/TNA! This man has won the rights for the NWA's top two titles in the company to use for his brand new promotion that he has risen from the ground. The titles known as the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and the NWA World Tag Team Championship. This man has a passion to deliver the demand for an alternative to the WWF, now known as the WWE many suspected that the quality of the WWE has drastically changed since the forced name change. This man will forever be known as the man who single-handedly changed the game of professional wrestling forever. This man is known as: Jeff Jarrett!
Jeff Jarrett has felt defeated and betrayed upon his release from his WWF contract and wants to prove to the world that he's made for this business. Together with his father Jerry, the Jarretts have managed to agree on a concept for the new product and have managed to invest a vast amount of money into it. Ideally it was suppose to be 50/50 in terms of ownership, but it wasn't until days after the announcement that Jerry Jarrett developed a sudden change of heart and pulled from the project. Jeff Jarrett was backtracked from the sudden move, but decided to continue foreward with NWA/TNA promotion until it's announcment. Jeff Jarrett has taken it upon himself to be the sole owner of the company and will do anything for it to make an impeccible first impression for the wrestling fans around the world.
Being under the NWA banner certainly has his advantages, but it also comes with it's terms and conditions that Jeff Jarrett must accept and honour at all times. Firstly Jeff Jarrett may be the owner of NWA/TNA, but he is required to have an approved NWA representative act as the NWA/TNA President, someone responsible for booking the matches and making the cards for the week. Secondly, a title matches involving the NWA World Heavyweight Championship or NWA World Tag Team Championships must be approved by the NWA Board of Directors. Thirdly, as long as Jeff Jarrett owns any percent of the company, he is prohibited from challenging for any of the NWA exclusive titles. As long as Jeff Jarrett can follow those terms, he will have the rights to two of the NWA's top championships.
Upon releasing the news of the new promotion, Jeff Jarrett has already signed a couple of the biggest names into the company. Wrestlers such as Scott Hall, Jerry Lynn, Rey Mysterio Jr. and amongst others, indy talent such as CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Nigel including the newly formed X-Division that will bring NWA/TNA up from the ground and turn it into the most exciting night of the week for Sports-Entertainment across the globe!
