Then we have a second rebellion with Tywin at the helm with having to rely on Tyrion.

Robert is still alive. Stannis will have to back him. Renly assures Highgarden stays loyal to the Crown. We don't get the War of the Five Kings. We get The Lannister Rebellion instead which should be the point of this story. To change the history.

Eh I'd still be fine with Ned staying North. What's Robert gonna do? Start a war with The North? Against his childhood best friend? He needs allies more than ever. As for Tyrion, we know the dagger isn't his. We should not hold him in captivity at all if we have that choice. It's Littlefinger's. We need to get rid of cunt as soon as possible. We have the luxury of foresight that these characters don't and we need to use it to guide these characters.
I don't think he would start a war, but I also think that he wouldn't so easily give up and could find other ways to coerce him into taking the gig. Just because Ned refuses to go this time doesn't mean the story couldn't end up taking him there another way. I agree on Tyrion which is why I said I'm more comfortable with the decision on what to do being in Ned's hands if he's at KL as the hand. He's less impulsive than Caitlyn and it's already been mentioned that Tyrion could make for an interesting ally to the Starks. We know that Littefingers plan is to poison the Starks and Lannisters against each other. I'm nit sure that Robert would name Jaime as the new hand but risking putting that much power in his hands isn't something I want to do at this stage of the game.

I'd expect Tywin would be made hand if it wasn't Ned? Suppose it's irrelevant anyway

Re: Our Song of Ice & Fire (Our Alternate Game of Thrones Story)

ATTENTION ONE OF THE POLLS IS A TIE
(I love this btw this means there are actually people participating and the decision is a complex one...)

Jon Snow:

A. Ask Benjen to tell Eddard that you want to join the Nightswatch (5 Votes)

B. Don’t ask him to. (5 Votes)

IN THE EVENT OF A TIE THE POLL WILL STAY OPEN INDEFINITELY UNTIL SOMEONE NEW BREAKS THE TIE OR SOMEONE WHO HAS ALREADY VOTED DECIDES TO SWITCH THEIR VOTE, DON'T BE PRESSURED INTO THINKING SOMEONE NEEDS TO HURRY UP AND SWITCH THEIR VOTE TO "MOVE IT ALONG" WE CAN ALWAYS WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE NEW BREAKS THE TIE.

"Explain to me why it is more noble to kill ten thousand men in battle than a dozen at dinner." - Tywin Lannister

"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone. That's why I read so much Jon Snow." - Tyrion Lannister

Re: Our Song of Ice & Fire (Our Alternate Game of Thrones Story)

Question. Will we be making all choices, or are some choices inevitable? For instance, I imagine Jaime pushing Bran is going to come up soon. Will we be deciding that, even though it makes no sense for Jaime's character at the moment to NOT push Bran.

IMO, I think some choices should be off limits. And the only choices we make should be within reason for the characters at hand. Ned deciding to go south or stay north is a decision that realistically, his character could choose either one. But Jaime refusing to push Bran(before his redemption arc), or if it gets that far, Joffrey not killing Ned on Baelor's Sept are decisions that I don't think we should have any control over(besides trying to prevent it beforehand).

Ooh fun. FWIW I'd still very much like to see what happens if Jon stays in Winterfell, especially now Ned is leaving. I realise it's risky for all sorts of reasons but I guess I'm just curious to see where this leads and to see what part, if any, he can play if/when things kick off with the Lannisters. Catelyn may even yet send him to The Wall for all we know (it is hinted at in the Chapter 2 post)

I agree, I almost posted the same thing. I don't plan on making choices which very blatantly go against someone's character/personality but I don't expect such choices to be given to us (quite rightly IMO).

It's one of the reasons I didn't even want to send Ned anywhere near KL. I think his fate may be sealed but we shall see. Either way I'm excited to see how it all plays out

Yes a lot of choices will be off limits if the character would never make them.

Adam change my vote on Jon to B. Let's not hold up the story.

Who's gonna be buds with Sam now?

How will Jon get a valyrian steel sword?

Who's gonna recruit the wildlings?

Where will Ygritte be to tell him he knows nothing?
