There is clearly a negative aspect to like systems in general. People likely get some sort of kick out of getting a high amount of likes and likely makes them feel validated.
I generally don't get good vibes from people who upload selfies on a regular basis because they are either arrogant or are seeking some kind of validation that they are good enough. The latter is more worrying because those people shouldnt feel less of a person because they didnt get enough likes, its all superficial nonsense anyway.
logic would say that removing the visibility of these likes would mean people arnt constantly comparing their uploads to others. The question of people using it for work is another matter.
