Considering that Americans are sub-par in the provision of government-based education etc anyways, what I personally question is the mindset of the people coming here in the first place ... But that's a jab at this misconceotion of "american exceptionalism" that is a different story altogether.
I'm less concerned by the 100 odd additional kid per school than I am about Americans spending more per capita (as compared to what's spent by illegal child) on killing brown kids half-way around the world .
I know it wasn't directed at me, but of course we should never actively punish children,
This is where the argument ends if you're a compassionate human being in my opinion. This is a nation of laws always seems to apply more and more to non-white people. How often do these same criers talk about over-stays from europe and canada? (especially the white ones)? Considering that a lot of the same individuals who whine about immigration also support white immigration and simultaneously whine about the "browning" of America, "invasion of brown people", when they try to talk about immigration, you have to take their motives into account.
They are not at all about punishing children because the same group is indeed all about unlimited "legal" immigration from white dominant countries. And the only thing that makes those people legal
is the stamp of very same government that they claim is so invasive in our lives and shouldn't exist ... So many hypocritical attitudes here that it's not even funny. The hypocrites amongst us have decided arbitrarily that they want government intervention when it suits their own personal agendas while saying that it should fuck off for everything that doesn't.
However, if you base your laws around compassion, you'll find that taking care of even a few extra million children is not beyond our means in this country. Not at all. This concept of scarcity that we;ve created so magically disappears in the majority of the developed world, but we're still supposed to believe in this concept of scarcity while simultaneously being convinced that we can't cloth, feed and protect everyone even though we absolutely can. A lot of Americans simply don't want to and have been convinced that we "just can't".
A lot of Americans lack compassion for people who don't look or think like the majority. We know. Our jails are over populated with non-whites. Our concept is that non-whites are more dangerous, more harmful for society. We can't seem to get away from that at all. But even our media (especially our right wing media) absolutely refuses to talk about white illegals. So at the end of the day, this is about race. And centrists get caught up in their arguments because they're packaged to portray only mexicans and people from South/Central America is drains on our economies - whereas most of the despite being undocumented pay their taxes, work hard and are not criminals.
Their lack of compassion is reserved for non-white immigrant children. Most over-staying students in America are from white countries ... Notice how they're never the issue for these anti-immigration people.
(of course, now that I've raised the issue, you can bet any money that the usual suspects will provide lip-service to try to pretend how outrageous my claims are about them and that they are about stopping all illegal immigration blah blah blah... Wait till the next article about white genocide in South Africa goes viral tho).
but isn't it kind of a problem with the system where even if you have no documentation, it would be discrimination to question that? If there is an amount of children of illegal immigrants, are they held to all of the same rules as the other children, say things like vaccinations and the like? Granted, it's not like I want the government to take these children and just boot them out if they are somewhat integrated, but I also don't think there should be a kind of system where you're attracting these types of children from illegal immigrant families either. And I'm not trying to be completely insensitive toward these children or what have you, I'm just genuinely curious about how these children can actually get into the system.
Tell America to stop fucking and destroying South and Central American countries and you will magically have fewer illegal immigrants.
