Why I won't be watching AEW(my issues with AEW).
To be clear, this is not a Pro-WWE anti-AEW thread. But having three episodes of Dynamite that I glanced through over and over, and tried to watch, I just don't find anything worth watching. Yeah I know, Chris Jericho on the microphone is pretty much better than anything WWE, but hear me out.
1)Find the talent abysmal, weird, freakish/bizarre which makes watching the matches impossible.
Talent like the midget from Jurassic Express, Darby Allin who's got the skinniest figure and particularly legs makes it painful to watch his matches. And then the leggings shit he's wearing in his match against Jericho? It's like watching Chris Jericho vs a little boy or a skinny woman (and that's not to take anything away from Darby's wrestling talent, the point is, it's hard to watch a match when the wrestler resembles a little boy/woman).
2)Most of the tag teams seem low quality, weird or hard for me to even bother watching.
Private party, best friends, and Kazarian/Daniels from Impact, and Jurassic Express with that midget make it incredibly hard to get invested in the tournament. Lucha Bros are an obvious exception, but I couldn't get myself to watch the little guy from Jurassic Express and take the tournament seriously.
3)Inner Circle, or demotion?
Chris Jericho and Jake Hager are fine, but watching the other three dudes with them, it feels mismatched, out of place. Like if you had Hogan teamed up with Buff Bagwell and Virgil as the NWO instead of Hall and Nash? If the analogy makes sense.
4)The Ex-WWE talent which doesn't interest me.
Jon Moxley sucks in the ring, always has. Dude can't throw a punch and his knee attacks are SO OFF, there's almost no contact and it's so apparent. It kills suspension of disbelief when your punches and knees don't even contact the opponent.
Cody Rhodes was always a midcarder to me, I'm yet to watch a single Cody match even from the WWE and he never really seemed interesting or mainevent level to me(just like Miz didn't). You know who did? Dolph Ziggler. I just don't see Cody as a mainevent star or world title level.
5)Kenny Omega and Young Bucks seem to be overrated spotmonkeys.
I glanced through the six-man tag from Dynamite's debut episode and Omega comes across to me as incredibly dull, boring, unidimensional(based on his facial expressions and ring presence) and just an acrobat, basically AEW's Seth Rollins.
I just don't know what about Kenny Omega makes him a big star. I just see a dude with a boring face who wrestles in this weird cruiserweight/spotmonkey-like way, same as Rollins. May be I'm wrong. But what is Kenny Omega's gimmick/character anyway?
The match itself seemed like one of those TNA matches where everybody does these spots in a predictive fashion, and there's no storytelling or psychology. Superkicks, suicide dives and all that.
Out of all these AEW dynamite episodes, I just can't see myself watch anything.
But if I ever were to want to watch it or check it out in the future, I'm intrigued by:-
Hangman Adam Page(Don't know much about him, but he seems cool enough)
Jake Hager(I see him as a maineventer based on his in-ring work and size/presence alone, and did so even in his WWE run)
Jimmy Havoc(Don't really know much, but he seems cool).
