Re: Muhammad Hassan

Hassan was excellent. It's such a shame. Even now he's still just 28 years old. What an amazing career he could have had.

If idiocy and bureaucracy hadn't derailed his push several years ago, he'd have beaten Taker at GAB and won the World Title at SummerSlam. Who knows how huge he'd be by now. He had all the tools and intangibles you would want from a main event star.

As far as the gimmick goes, I thought it was outstanding and Hassan did an excellent job in his delivery. What made it great is that the character had depth. A lot of people narrow mindedly look back on Hassan and remark that he was just getting cheap heat because he was playing a Muslim Arab. That couldn't be farther from the truth.

Hassan's character was brilliant: he was an Arab-American who loved America and just wanted to find social acceptance in post-9/11 society. But he still got booed anyway, which led him to basically go on a crusade to right the wrongs of what he considered social injustice.

The craziest thing of all is that if you really think about it logically, Hassan was the face and the fans were the heels.

A wasted opportunity.
