Re: The Punk/Heyman Battleground build
I was bored during the opening promo. Langston's attack was awkward as fuck. The match however, was pretty great.
Punk's music to distract Axel was great and CM Punk laying the beatdown was awesome.
However, Punk's selling his self-inflicted injury left a lot to be desired. What a stupid way to get hurt for a wrestler ... It's hard to buy stuff like that when you've been watching as long as one has.
Overall, the feud lacks emotional investment. It's one of those feuds which is starting to prove that fans ought to be shown feuds between wrestlers, and not wrester vs manager of a stable of wrestlers. People are still invested in the Punk / Lesnar matchup but WWE is being forced to convert this into a Punk/Heyman storyline - and it's just not coming together.
I mean, Punk and Heyman have been great as individual talents (great mic work, great wrestling) ---- It's the feud itself that has just become too drawn out. This was one feud that should've had a shorter shelf-life than it seems to be given and I'm just waiting for it to be over to find out if Punk's career is gonna move towards main-eventing wrestlemania or not. At this point, I'm more invested in his shot at wrestlemania's main event than his feud with Heyman.
