Always thought that song sucked balls but that never really mattered to me. I'd easily take it over some generic Seether/Nickelback/Godsmack type shit.
True, WWE does have a knack for picking the worst generic and talentless rock bands to use. Let Johnston produce the rock songs you want. He'll find a better band and write a better song any day.
If they actually did a video featuring the current stars in the intro, I hope that means they'll use this intro for future SDs(and not just 1 show in the future).
But also makes me think they'll do "Smackdown Old School" sometime soon.
The video clips needed to be faster like the original, but it's still fuckin' awesome. Anyway, the WWE has been getting very nostalgic lately, first the old school title photo shoot and now this. I wonder why :hmm:.......
Something isn't right about the montage. The Smackdown logo animations should be more "rushed" than this. But I'd still take this over whatever the theme is right now.
wow i cant believe how many people here remember little shit like the editing and production of a decade and a half old theme lol. but that was sweet, nice nostalgia kick
I loved this video. Very nostalgic and brought back good memories of how exciting Smackdown used to be when they aired it on Thursday nights. Would love to see them use this video if they ever do a retro version of Smackdown.
I'm not one to harp on about DA ATTITUDEZ ERA >>>> DA PG ERAZ but some things should just be left alone. Watching that was just awkward and only served to highlight how you can't just pluck people from one era and plant them into a different one. The current guys are not of the AE and therefore this was kind of bad to watch. It's a cool concept don't get me wrong, I just didn't dig it.
Notice how all the clips in the new intro are entrance shots and poses and shit. Thats not what wrestling is about. Now compare that to the older intro from 1999-2001 and look at all the action shots and sheer rebellious badassary. It just goes to show how much wrestling has changed for the worse these days.
I personally blame Chris Benoit. That may sound harsh but after the burial the media gave WWE after the tragedy, it seems like all Vince McMahon wants to do is please the media. Hence the PG "family show", the Be a Star bullshit and all this other "PC mainstream" crap they're doing these days like social media and shit.
I miss the rebellious WWE and the Vince McMahon that didn't give a shit.
