How do you feel about my return booking of CM Punk?
I would personally bring CM Punk back around late June time/ early July because it has enough time to build up for Summerslam pay-per-view. You can do this two ways, either have Punk unexpectedaly show-up or in my way would be that I have Paul Heyman hyping up the return of Punk and that ' The best in the world ' is coming back to the WWE.
So late June I would have Heyman in the opening of RAW, he does a whole hyping up Punk etc... then Punk music hits to a loud reaction as he walks onto the ramp listening to the huge reaction. He walks down the ring and enters the ring as Heyman rambles on some more. The whole thing is a mystery as Punk remains quiet, Heyman still continues to repeat ' BEST IN THE WORLD ' as Punk shakes his head and walks away remaining quiet. (Some people may dislike this because its been done with Sting & currently AJ Styles).
Later that night I would have Punk vs a top babyface in the WWE, and have Heyman in his corner. Punk throughout the match feels distracted and unfocused, and ends up losing the match with Heyman trying to interfere on Punks behalf which ultimately fails. After the match, Punk stands in the ring with a microphone and begins to verball abuse Heyman stating that ever since he alligned himself with Heyman he has been nothing but bad luck with him losing his WWE title to The Rock, losing to John Cena, and having to get people like The Shield to interfere on his behalf when he legitimatly had nothing to do with Brad Maddox or The Shield.
I would turn Punk character into not a clean-cut clown shoes, goatface babyface but a more serious/focused Punk. A man who doesnt shout to the crowd 'I am the best in the world' but proves it. I would have Punk tell Heyman that he is the reason why he lost focus, why he lost his WWE championship and the reason he lost to The Undertaker. Punk tells Heyman that hes no longer a Paul Heyman guy, but that hes a CM Punk guy and believes in himself that he is the best in the world and doesnt need someone like Heyman alligned with him.
The following weeks would be Punk transitioning into a babyface like he did turning into a heel. Have him tell the crowd how Heyman had corrupted him and that he turned his back on the fans, and that he did things he cant ever take back such as Jerry Lawler attack, mocking his heroes like Mick Foley/Bret Hart and Paul Bearer. Heyman in turn of this would then have Heyman wanting to seek revenge, this is where Lesnar comes in or Heyman can allign with The Ryback.
So ultimately you turn Punk from a whiny heel into a guy who realises he became a shadow of his former-self as he slowly begins to build back up to backing his actions up as ' The Best in the world ' gaining redemption at reclaiming the championship that he once loved. It becomes a battle of Punk fighting guys that Heyman sends at him for betraying him and this leads to a fun storyline bringing Punk back as a true asskicker.
