In that case then guys like Austin and Cena look nothing like that. So why you compared them I do not know. Is Austin really bigger than Eddie or Ziggler? and Kurt Angle really? really? come on, in what world is he considered a big guy? Even back in the 80s not everyone was big and was still went on to become big stars for example HBK, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Jake the Snake, Mr. Perfect, Roddy Piper heck even Ric Flair.
Size had nothing to do with me getting into wrestler. Give me the likes of Punk, Bryan, Jeff Hardy, Eddie Guerrero, Roddy Piper, HBK and Jericho over Hogan, Lenser, Batista, Mark Henry, Warrior, Big Show, Khali and even André the Giant if I am being honest.
A lot of the posts here are very confusing.
When I think of a professional wrestler I think of 3 qualities Moves, Voice, and Size. Some of the names you mentioned weren't massive guys by any stretch of the imagination but excelled in the other aspects that it compensated for their size. In the case of Hardy he wasn't very big or great on the mic but God damn he was about as action packed as it got (sad thing is his style of matches are few and far between today).
For guys like HBK, Jericho, Piper, Guerrero, Perfect, and Flair their voices carried weight. When they spoke it commanded you're attention and not only that their voices fit their gimmicks to a tee. I could actually believe Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair were in a class above me just by what they said and how they said it, Kurt Angle (pretty big dude but i'll bite) could say anything and he would've sounded like he was all that and a bag of chips, Piper made me believe he'd knock my teeth in, and HBK, Chris Jericho and Eddie just oozed charisma to the point where anything they said made me like them. On top of that all of them were far and away some of the best technical wrestlers.
And I'd just like to ask in what world aren't guys like Kurt angle and Bret Hart bigger than the average male? The two of them had barrel chests, broad shoulders and had lats big enough that they really did force their arms to flair out to the sides. Both of them would be pretty intimidating in an everyday setting.
