Re: Is John Cena turning heel?

Maaaybe. WWE almost always takes the simplest, easiest route (e.g., Cena winning, getting his redemption, staying face etc.), but in this case they may be foreshadowing something.

I get the feeling that a) WWE already knows Cena's basically going to be the heel in his match against Rock, and b) WWE thinks sales from Cena's merch won't drop too drastically, and maybe even remain steady, were he to turn heel.

Maybe WWE decides to take a gamble, and if it doesn't work or the company starts losing quite a bit of money, they an always turn him back.

I think you're right and it's a shame. This is the PERFECT time to turn Cena heel and I do mean perfect in the very original, literal sense of the word. If only the WWE had the balls to let a bit of it fall on the shoulders of Punk (who's been shouldering a bit lately as he's the main draw for all the house shows) and the confidence to understand that the battles between a heel Cena and a super over Ryback would be very good for business and make what's going to be a very boring and lackluster summer one of the best in recent memory.

There will never be a better time and it angers me so much to know it's unlikely to happen.

I'd like this. Just to look at it spark with discussion every time Cena has a serious promo then watch it die down after a while.

It's About Damn Time.

Re: Is John Cena turning heel?

The mere fact John Cena said "win or lose" the landscape will be changed forever or something like that definitely alludes to something....Usually when stuff like that is said nothing happens.

BUt more than likely nothing will happen.

Re: Is John Cena turning heel?

No he isn't. This is another Cena heel turn tease. Just like they teased a heel turn last year in the Kane feud and after losing to the ROCK. You could also argue that the Nexus storyline teased a heel turn.

This^. No matter how much you love/hate Cena I think most people like the intense side of him better.

Yep, and add that to the Paul Heyman glass ceiling comment a while ago..hmmmm.

But, in reality things will continue in their cartoon character episode way lol.

Re: Is John Cena turning heel?

That was one of his best promos IMHO and it's because he had a heelish side to him. I was loving it. But he won't turn.

When they turned Austin heel, there was NO TOP FACE to oppose him. Then a man named Kurt Angle emerged and a star was born. Because Austin made him. Even if the heel turn feel flat, WWE at least gave themselves a new star to build the company around if they needed and they did build Smackdown around Angle for 3 years.
