What is So Appealing About Dolph Ziggler?

I see most people on this site always gushing over Ziggler. What's so good about him?

He's been in the WWE for 7 years (5 as Dolph Ziggler), but what exactly has he done to warrant such appreciation?

Apparently he has a good look. All I see is a blend of Mr. Perfect, Shawn Michaels, and Billy Gunn ripoffs in him. From the bleach blonde hair, to the florescent attire, to his moveset. Everyone is always referring to CM Punk as a vanilla midget, well wouldn't that make Ziggler one too? Punk's billed height and weight are superior to that of Dolph's.

So I hear he's a good in the ring. Can anyone think of any memorable matches he's been in? No? Didn't think so. You can be the best seller in the business, but that's just one aspect of being a good wrestler.

His gimmick? The oh so original cocky, young, arrogant guy who thinks he's better than everyone. Next.

Please enlighten me on why Dolph Ziggler is so good and why he is the next big thing.

THERE IS ONLY ONE DIAMOND IN THE BUSINESS AND HIS NAME IS TITUS O'NEIL

Re: What is So Appealing About Dolph Ziggler?

He's actually funny, as opposed to 'comedy face' funny. He's attractive. His hair bugs the crap out of me, but it's nothing a deep conditioning treatment wouldn't fix. I don't mind (and actually prefer) smaller, more agile wrestlers. So, his height and weight are of very little interest to me.

He sells like a sumbitch. It's theatrical, see-it-in-the-cheap-seats selling, so it doesn't come across right on TV sometimes. I bet it looks like a million dollars live, though. And he moves like an athlete.

And he is jerkass-charming. It's a weird combo.

Ainsi sera, groigne qui groigne.

Bingo.

I always get into arguments with these lunatic Ziggler marks who keep saying he is Top 5 in the ring, has stolen the show countless times, and has contributed numerous MOTY quality matches.

I pulled out the abacus, looked at the only source I could to try and quantify what is a "good" match (Wrestling Observer) because a good match is in the eye of the viewer.. and Ziggler has only had exactly 1 **** match in his 7 year WWE career (TLC v John Cena). Funny thing is, his best effort was STILL not good enough to steal the show because they were outdone by Shield/Ryback/Kane/Bryan.

People also blow their load every time this guy takes a god damn bump for a simple clothesline.

I think there's better wrestlers on the roster without a doubt, like Bryan and Christian, but in terms of the amount of energy and storytelling he puts into a match, few do it better than Ziggler. I don't wanna say he completely lives up to the hype, but for the most part, he built his following.

That "co MOTY".. 3.5 stars, daddy-o. Above average. If his gimmick was based on truth, he would be "Above Average" Dolph Ziggler.

Out of the hundred of Ziggler matches, he has only ever worked 1 4 star match (excluding multi-man MITB, but even if you count those it jumps to a whopping 3).

I am still waiting for him to "show the world".

I need to make a meme: Claims to steal the show *dolph's face* Never actually stolen a show.

Per the usual Ziggler fan damage control, I expect Wrestling Observer's opinion to be discarded and that's fine.

You have Christian in your sig and avatar, yet you got the nerve to call out Ziggler? LMAO! What did it take Christian, like 17 fuckin years to finally get a World Title? No wonder why you're so bitter about Ziggler, he's busted his ass just as hard as Christian and will be winning a World title this year.

Also, to the OP the reason why my respect goes out to Ziggler and why I appreciate him as a performer is because he's actually had to work his way up the ranks. He's been given nothing and he's busted his ass to get where he belongs, and is STILL WORKING. He won MITB and is taking the longest time to cash it in, just because creative has nothing for him. Even Swagger and the Miz successfully cashed in and didnt take long! Ziggler was in the spirit squad FFS, and look at where he's at now. Ziggler consistently goes out and works 100% to give the best match possible, his selling is awesome, his finishers are great, he carries himself like a star. You can give the argument about his mic skills, but ppl are really calling in his in ring work? Really? Fine I'll give some memorable matches he's been in.

Vs. Punk at RR 2012, and the one right before that on Raw.
V. Bryan at Bragging Rights
V. Cena TLC 2012
V. Jericho SS 2012
V.Sheamus(obviously cant remember dates, but hell take any 3 of his last 5 or 6 matches with Fella, they've all been fuckin gold and pretty intense.)
V. Orton NOC
V. Edge RR 2011

Those are just a few. Also, he continuously puts on great matches on Raw and SD! even those you can tell when its obviously a throwaway match, his in ring work sucks you in like a vortex and his storytelling is amazing. Not to mention he is putting up with all this jobbing shit, and it will all be worth it at the end. Look at Sheamus, ADR, The Shield(huge fan but gotta use em for this)when they debuted on the main roster, they immediately were booked to feud with top stars. See what I mean? Hardly anyone pays their dues these days, which is why Ziggler has made me a permanent fan.

Top three favorite wrestlers of ALL TIME
1.Triple H
2.Chris Jericho
3.Randy Orton
