Re: Is Punk's run as champ more impressive than Bruno's?
Bruno pretty much set the foundation for the WWWF and established it more or less as a nationally recognizable entity for Hulk Hogan to come in the 80s and take it to a whole new level. Then come the 90s and everyone is sick and tired of the goody goody 2-D face and they start to favor the heels. Therefore characters like The Rock and Steve Austin come in and flourish because they represented the unrest and rebellious feel of the times, taking the company to new heights as well.
Now with the times, wrestling is almost a complete afterthought, and it sucks to say but its true. With the way pop culture and sensibilities have changed, it can't facilitate the type of investment the fans can place in the product. WWE isn't helping things either with the way they book and write their shows dating back to 2007. But its a sign of the times, and sooner or later if the fans don't completely tune out the show, then another change will come. Everything happens in a circle.
