Like really, everything from his nuances and mannerisms, to the way he executes his moves and down to his facial expressions.
Everything to me screams that he is going to be an awesome face character, and they need to keep him as a badass to keep that momentum going. He really was never meant to be heel in the first place now in hindsight, he looked so uncomfortable, but now he looks like he's doing what he's comfortable with.
I'm actually quite confused with myself because to go from not caring about a guy as a heel in the slightest bit, to becoming quite excited about him as a face is a bit odd for me.
As soon as he turned, it was so, so much more obvious that he's a natural face. He's very likeable to watch. As a heel it somehow made him just another boring character, he wasn't natural playing it, he had to pretty much force people to boo him and even then they did it half heartedly. As a face you an tell his mannerisms, his ring work, his general character is so much more natural to him and it certainly shows. He's getting the most reaction he's ever got in his entire career in the last three weeks and I'm really enjoying him.
I was incredibly happy when he won the world title because first, he took it off The Big Show (thank god) and second I genuinely started looking forward to his face run, the feuds he would have, the matches he would have etc. I can't wait to see how he does in the ring properly as a face, if his match with Show is anything to go by...very well.
This was actually the second ADR markout moment for me. Let's not forget his return at the 4/2 Raw, interrupting Sheamus. Granted it was an insanely hot crowd that was anti-Sheamus, and in Miami, but I think this moment may have foreshadowed how he could work as a face.
Then again, they may have just been cheering for Ricardo.
I wouldn't say I'm sold as its only been one week but Del Rio's performance in the WHC match against Big Show was fantastic. His mannerisms, body language and facial expressions were great and his comebacks for the most part was believable. I also liked the way he had to outsmart Big Show to win the title instead of supermanning him. That whole story around the match was great. And that reaction from Del Rio after winning, the tears, the joy in his face...wonderful. Sold beautifully. Felt so natural. And it would have been an even better moment had there been some proper build up to it instead of hotshotting him as champion, which makes me believe that this is a set up for Ziggler's cash in.
Its only the start but I am digging the direction they are going in with Del Rio. As long as they don't mess this up and make him go the Cena/Sheamus direction of face and allow him to keep his character and let him put his own personality into it acting more as a hero then Del Rio could turn into the first face I feel as though I can actually cheer for since CM Punk (Bryan is more of a comedy tweener right now).
This is a rare thing for me, usually sold on heels but hated ADR as one bcos he bores the shit out me. As a face however, I don't want to fast forward past his matches. I actually quiet enjoy him
i just got done watching smackdown. yeah, he's better as a face i guess, but he was almost a zero as a heel so it's hard not to beat a zero. i think people got excited about the epic tv match and even more so the unexpected outcome and are transfering those feelings toward adr's face turn. giving credit to adr for for being a great face like that's what made it such a great match. kinda had nothing to do it. it was fun to watch cuz it was a good match with a david vs goliath feel and nobody saw adr winning. that's it. before he was a guy who was mean to his announcer and came out in a fancy car, but now he's nice to his announcer and comes out in a fancy car. this is the big character change you guys are excited about? will love to see the non-reaction or probably boos del rio will get when wwe tours states with a much smaller latino population. it'll be crickets when his music hits in places like milwaukee.
