Whats the general consensus about him, Would you Release or Re Package?

Re: How would you Re Package Ted Dibiase?

I'd make him a rich millionaire heel who wears expensive gold studded suits with encrusted diamond dollar signs on. Plus I'd give him sommething he could carry around with him to gain heat, maybe have him go on a losing streak and then as he can't win or buy any of the WWE titles he could make his own one or something like that.

No?

Create some way for him to lose all of his money - Some rift between he and his father, his father stops any money that goes towards Ted Jrs. pockets. Make DiBiase lose all of his material wealth and then create a rags to riches story. I dunno.

Make him go bankrupt and turn him into a sick and twisted homeless guy.
That actually would be interesting to see.

Re: How would you Re Package Ted Dibiase?

I think he gave up his dads money(kayfabe) to charity or something like that. Dibiase can't pull of the money gimmick at all(WWE have tried the gimmick and even had the chance to make the Millon Dollar Man jr. gimmick by having Dibiase make it his own by having him play up the rich, spoiled, snob aspect of the character but they didn't).

No-one cares about Dibiase anymore never mind the casuals. I would have him mix/shake up his attire a little as he still looks like he hasn't got over Legacy. Have him grow a beard and/or change up his hairstyle. Do the exact same thing with Michael McGillicutty(new attire and head style?(or whatever you want to call it) but plus changing his name to Joe Hennig. Give them matching gear, give them a Legacy type gimmick(doesn't matter if they play up as good or bad or switch between etc), a tag finisher and a tag name. They should keep together for a about a year and a half(with them not being relegated to NXT or Superstars they can go there but not as regulars).
This could be the stepping stone for Dibiase depending on how he does(or Hennig). My change would add another real tag-team to the divison and reintroduce both of them as Dibiase right now gets about the same reaction and/or intrigue as a random Ryback jobber.

I wouldn't, in all honesty. He's virtually useless. Even moreso now that they're actually building up a midcard of talented guys. There's no need for DiBiase.

Actually if they want to give him another shot I'd say throw him in a tag team with someone equally as directionless: say, Justin Gabriel. They might be able to work well together. Besides, it couldn't hurt to have an extra tag team.

Re: How would you Re Package Ted Dibiase?

1.Give him his dad's gimmick
2.Buy the US championship from Cesaro who say he is sick of holding US championship
3.Dibiase burns US championship
4.Introduces Million Dollar Championship
5.Gets two enforcers-Mason Ryan and Brodus Clay(NXT gimmick).
Brodus and Ryan fight for Tag Team titles
6.Dibiase becomes like HHH of Evolution(for the lower card titles)

Re: How would you Re Package Ted Dibiase?

Considering the fact that WWE are starting to actually build up the mid-card scene with actual talented guys, I wouldn't repackage him in the slightest, there really is no point of it. He's literally good at being useless, and it's rather quite astonishing that he hasn't already made the unemployment line yet.

But if somehow, someway they decide not to release him, I would be generous enough to say that they should really evolve on his character. In that aspect, I think a guy like Ted DiBiase is easily repackageable, there's just so many options they can provide him with. They could give him his father's rich gimmick, give him back the Million Dollar Championship, give him a personal bodyguard, etc. Alberto Del Rio could benefit from something like this also, since his rich gimmick surprisingly hasn't been utilized at all.

Well....I don't know. I guess I would do a gimmick where he intentionally tries to step out of his dad's shadow. Do a thing where he either feels he doesn't deserve it or that he feels he will be better than Sr. Either way use Ted Sr. to establish the gimmick in ring in front of everybody, then go from there and have him be taunted by his dad's legacy. Kind of a reverse legacy gimmick, instead of him feeling entitled, he feels burdened by his dad's legacy.

His Dad becomes so dissapointed he disowns/stops giving him money and he becomes homeless and has to wrestle his way to the top to make money and win back his millionaire Dad's respect. He can grow a Daniel Bryan beard or just borrow DB's.

Has their ever been a tramp gimmick before, i remember a dustman before attitude era.

Re: How would you Re Package Ted Dibiase?

I'd probably make him a non-wrestler for a while. I'd say he could be the suit wearin', money flashing type of guy. Make him manage a team possibly that would do his dirty work for cash. Either that, or simply an Otunga type role.

Re: How would you Re Package Ted Dibiase?

Duh, turn the Dibase Posse into his entourage at every event he went to. I mean he has a cult following, why not offer them free tickets and have them join him as party goers. At least as a face. His dad was a great heel while Jr looks more like a face

Re: How would you Re Package Ted Dibiase?

Send him down to FCW or NXT. Treat him as though he were a new talent who needed help with his mic skills and in developing a good gimmick beyond "I'm a _____ generation superstar." Basically, treat him exactly how they're treating Richie Steamboat and Bo Dallas. Let him learn right alongside them.

Re: How would you Re Package Ted Dibiase?

I wouldn't. The guy's a good wrestler but he doesn't seem to have 'it'. He makes a good midcard babyface with his current gimmick. The only thing I would change is his theme and minitron.

There is one thing I'd do though and it's to put he and Hennig in a tag team together with the whole Dibiase Posse schtick with the tailgating and that. That would also open the opportunity to recreate this 'Fortunate Sons' gimmick in the future, with the right manager.

Re: How would you Re Package Ted Dibiase?

I would have him come to the main programming, put in comical efforts to gain attention of the GM after cutting a promo about assuring his dad and the crowd that he will become the world champion within a year and get a chance to prove himself where he fails each time slowly tripping over the edge moving from comedy act to serious one.

Finally after a three four months when people get tired of him, make him come out and cut a promo where he gives up failing to make a name for himself, apologize to his dad who comes out and berates him, possibly disowns him and he goes off tv for another couple of months with the story kept alive by commentary.

After the couple of months, he starts appearing in the crowd with a makeover, no mic, no gimmick, no music with the commentary playing up him taking some mma or going psychotic based on which, he will start destroying opponents shoot/hardcore style all the way up starting with interrupting matches to getting into matches and finally to the title shot exactly after an year when he said he would become the champion.

Re: How would you Re Package Ted Dibiase?

Change his theme and start things off by making him the guy who wants to be a self made man. Give him a few low profile wins for a few weeks before having Del Rio snide DiBiase backstage for not wanting to take advantage of his fathers fortune or whatever. Del Rio is still a heel and has a feud of his own with others, but his interactions with DiBiase backstage are more or less passive aggressive <= not intended.

Anyways, Del Rio basically wants DiBiase to prove that he's a self made man, so Del Rio will throw weekly challenges of sorts against DiBiase that are usually going to be handicapped against him (Del Rio becomes his unofficial booker for unexplained reasons, but that should be the norm for the WWE).

Since Del Rio will probably lose whatever feud he is in, he will get frustrated and it might cross over to his mini-feud with DiBiase, before they ultimately fight with DiBiase on top.

Okay so "self made man" isn't really a gimmick and DiBiase is still in the lower/midcard at this point, but this was just a random 2 minute idea on how to put him back on the radar and get the audience behind him a bit. With three hour RAWs, I doubt this would take that much time away, so even though its gonna be a project, its not like he's heavily featured. He can still do his tailgate parties and etc, but after this, he'll probably have to evolve some to progress pass a US title reign.
