Re: How would you Re Package Ted Dibiase?

For one thing, I would stop with the fucking "DiBiase Pussy" gimmick.

His rich-guy-gives-away-all-his-money gimmick is about as effective as a paper condom. And, unfortunately for DiBiase, Del Rio's already doing the whole hateful rich dude schtick.

So probably ditch the entire rich kid thing altogether.

Unless...

You turn DiBiase into a character who literally buys success. Like his (actually rather awesome) theme song says, if he can't do it legit, he just reaches into his pocket and buys what he wants. Maybe his character challenges the WWE itself, threatening to buy it out, corrupting its management staff, influencing decisions, and consequently keeping the gold around his waste.

It's something they haven't bothered to do with Del Rio, and that could be the opening DiBiase needs to get over with the audience.

Of course, DiBiase needs the mic and ring skills to back up such a limelight storyline. So a lot depends on him as a performer.

Re: How would you Re Package Ted Dibiase?

Started out his career well as a heel...Just turn him back into a heel. He tried his best with the DiBiase posse, but it was never gonna take him far.

Arrogant, obnoxious, snob who flaunts his cash every time he is on screen in promo's, backstage, even in the ring somehow...Have him trying to buy officials, title shots etc. Try and make it as different from Ted DiBiase snr's MDM gimmick as possible. But even still, i wouldnt care if they completely rehashed the MDM gimmick. Solid talent in ring and good on the mic. Would be a waste not to do anything with him IMO.

hate hate hate hate hate...

I'll be honest, I haven't seen Dibiasse in a good year and a half so I don't know if the hate is warrented or not, but I do know that they screwed up with him from the word go. Putting him under Orton was a career killer. They've paid attention to his name, but in the wrong ways altogether. The first Idea I had with him off the bat when he came in was the million dollar kid. There's another thread around here about recycling old gimmicks, and that's probably the best one to recycle. Dumb people everywhere hate the rich, exploit that. Not only that it's an easy gimmick to write and perform around. You don't have to be a genius or oscar level actor to pull it off. If when he came in they had put him in the same gimmick as his dad with his dad as a mouthpiece/manager.. he could have been world champion material at some point.

They didn't though, and everything else they've done with him (the stuff I saw before and the stuff I'm reading about in this thread) makes it about impossible to really pull off the gimmick in the right way. He's half screwed, but if he had something interesting to do and some time to work on the little things he'd be great. Hell if I know what that interesting thing is now that they've made him look like a biatch..

but haters gonna hate.

I don't know that people care enough to see him in the ring. You have to give him a non-wrestling role first, so that people will grow to hate him, and thus want to see him get his ass kicked in the ring. First, and foremost I don't think he should stay away from the rich gimmick. As a matter of fact he should first have in which he is suddenly hurt. Carried out, and taken out of the arena in an ambulance. Have the injury seem legit, and work it as much as you can. DiBiase's have a history of injuries in their family. Once Teddy returns, it's with a whole new out look on life.

He says that he is now forced to retire from professional wrestling, and he says not one fan ever asked once if he thought he would ever come back. Teddy claims that he doesn't have to wrestle, and that his life is that of one who does not have to work. DiBiase claims that he only worked in this business to please his father, and it wound up breaking his neck. Have Teddy say that he sued his father, and won in court. Teddy Jr says that he was able to take everything away from his father like candy from a baby. Now he says that his father is homeless, and makes less money than Virgil.

In order to keep tradition of his father. Teddy would purchase NXT, and then fire Dusty Rhodes as GM. He says that his father may have been responsible for bringing in The Undertaker, and Austin. However, he plans to offer more than his father ever could to this business, and that's providing a whole roster of talent for the future. The whole point is to place Teddy on the same path as his father, but greater. He keeps the Millionaire lifestyle, and takes credit for offering the WWE the best talent in the world with NXT. A non-wrestling role in NXT as it's CEO would be great. I could see him finding another GM, perhaps himself.

Man, this guy went from legacy, to Million Dollar Kid, to Posse guy. I am sure WWE initially thought he would be the breakout star from legacy, but the gimmicks are not working. At this stage perhaps they need to turn him heel, and perhaps try a new gimmick once again. The rich gimmicks are getting kinda old IMO, or it's probably because WWE doesn't seem to know how to do rich gimmicks. How about make a story where Dibiase becomes broke and make him the complete opposite of what he was, he would be the shows homeless guy. I personally don't care at all about Dibiase, but he is still apparently in WWE so they might as well try something with him lol.

how about this: have him by the first guy that runs in to every time some one like the shield attacks. Have him get beat mercilessly at every run in. Have him come in the ring with a cast on his arm and start beating heels with it. This way you get him over with the crowd, You don't have to put in matches right away. and then you have a group of ready made opponents afte the second week or so.

He has had several injuries the last year or so, that is why he hasn;t been on TV.

I do what they were going to do with him awhile back....

He wanted the US title which Kofi Kingston had, so on raw out of nowhere both Carlito and Primo attacked Kofi during his match. When they were walking up the ramp Ted came out in a nice suit and pulled out an envelope filled with money to give to Carlito and Primo...So just have him pay off people to get what he wants....Also add to that a gorgeous blonde gold-digger to be on his arm like Maryse was and you got a decent character for the crowd to hate....
