Re: Should the IC & US title be combined into the "Universal Title"
24/7 was probably the worst feature of the Hardcore title, it actually took legitimacy away from a title that should have been reserved for guys who could be seen as tough enough to be specialists in 'no-holds-barred' matches.
For me the guys who defined what should have been The Hardcore Champion were the likes of Steve Blackman, Raven, Hardcore Holly, Tommy Dreamer and Al Snow; mid-card guys that were good workers and tough enough to work in a stiffer style or gimmick matches. Mankind, Taker, RVD, Big Show and Jeff Hardy, while adding a bit of kudos to the title, were in actual fact too far up the card and don't epitomise what the title stood for.
The fact it could be won by The Mean Street Posse or one of The Godfathers Hos was the ruination of a championship that had been one of the defining parts of the Attitude Era.
