Justin Gabriel getting pushed?

He beat Cesaro cleanly tonight, do you guys think this is the beginning of some sort of push?

I personally think he would make a great midcard babyface.

Cesaro needs an opponent he hasn't had a PPV match with, Gabriel is a random jobber, Cesaro will beat him at HIAC and move on. I don't see anything coming out of it beyond that. They could go with a complete shocker and have Gabriel win the US title, to keep this program going longer, maybe to the end of the year, or to move Cesaro higher up the card, maybe to be the next opponent for Kofi's IC title (though that should be Sandow after the Rhodes Scholars break up, hopefully this Sunday, so I hope not), but you'll probably see Cesaro quickly despose of him at HIAC and that'll be the last of it.

I too think Gabriel could be a good midcard face OP, but I doubt that this is any sort of push. They needed something for Cesaro to do apart from squash jobbers every week, so a short Gabriel/Cesaro program over the US Title could be just that. Maybe Gabriel will get another win on Smackdown and they'll announce that he'll face Cesaro at The Hell in a Cell PPV with Cesaro retaining the title.

Anyway Gabriel's win was a great surprise factor and it's good to have that in the WWE now and again.

Do you even watch the shows? You seem to make a million threads about them but don't even watch them...

I think he'll win a match on SD tonight, be put in a great match with Cesaro at HiaC and lose, then who knows, the undercard is impossible to predict. Ryder won a battle royal at NoC and had a good match against Cesaro but is back to jobbing a month later. I'd like Gabriel to get a push but I wont hold my breath.

As much as I like Cesaro and Gabriel, WWE doesn't book the U.S Title scene very well as the people who get shots are normally people who've been jobbing for months before hand, hell, Gabriel has lost to Cesaro at least 3 times before this. At least for the most part the IC title gets upper mid-carders to hold it (Ziggler, Rhodes, Barrett).

And also, they had 6 weeks to build up to HiaC, and they couldn't build up a U.S Title match? It's not like they couldn't have booked Gabriel better up till this or ANYBODY for that matter. Have him beat a midcarder or two and boom, suddenly he's vaguely relevant which probably makes you over qualified for the U.S Title at this point.

I thought it was awful to see him pin the champion last night, and felt it was horrible booking on the WWE's part. Gabriel shouldn't be anywhere near a title shot right now. He has done nothing significant other than pair up with Tyson Kidd, and show off some tag team moves. Yes, he is a solid worker, but last night he looked off. He hardly speaks on the mic, and I can hardly figure out what his character actually is. Right now he is just another face in the crowd. Honestly, I would have preferred to see Gabriel vs Kidd. A good face vs face match with current tag team partners. The winner gets a match with Cesaro next week.

Could be a fun 8 minute PPV match with Cesaro retaining. These guys have some chemistry though, so I'd endorse that match if it happens.

I keep trying to think if there's a safe way for Cesaro to his Swiss Death "out of nowhere" as Gabriel is doing his 450 splash... that would be fun, but I doubt it's even actually possible

I'm in the camp that says it was just to set up a ppv match between them. I'm at the point where I'd like to see Gabriel get a small push (he's better than most of the face undercard, ie Kofi, Santino, Ryder, and Brodus), so it wouldn't hurt. He's not leaving HiaC with the title, however.

the fact it was a clean win over Cesaro is a little surprising. like, that's how some wins should be, but WWE just never does it because apparently a clean win just ruins a superstar, or that loser has to absolutely annihilate the person the following week. Cesaro just needs someone to annihilate during the Pre-show.

Was Cesaro undefeated before then? I'm guessing not, but I can't remember seeing him lose. Hang on a minute, he lost to Santino once and then broke up with Aksana. This post now effectively sounds like the ramblings of a mad man 8*D

Not that I think all that highly of Gabriel but he certainly doesn't deserves to be in US Title contention. It's sad that the only build you get (if that) is for the WWE/WH Championships.

Face.
Santino
Gabriel
Swagger

Heel.
Cesaro.
Slater.
Otunga.

There is your division, not hard to give it a shot.

They gave Cesaro and Gabriel a clean win over each other so that they can set up one more match at Hell in A Cell for the title. From there, one of two things will happen:

1. Cesaro retains and Gabriel goes back to Jobville.
2. Gabriel wins and Cesaro moves on to greener pastures.

Either way, Cesaro will win and Gabriel will lose.

I don't think its a push. I think they are just poorly setting up a match between him & Cesaro at HIAC.

From what I've seen of Gabriel in the ring he looks to be a good wrestler. Thats really all I can say. Haven't seen him on the mic and get a chance to show any personality so he comes off a bland & boring. Maybe this will lead to him getting the chance to show something.
