Some people seem to think that charisma is just the ability to say shit into a microphone. It's not. The Ultimate Warrior, as an example, was charismatic as fuck but he couldn't promo to save his life.

Exactly.

I always thought that I was the Samaritan in that story (Fisk)

What the hell does that mean? (Officer)

It means that I'm not the Samaritan. That I'm not the priest, or the Levite. That I am the ill intent... who set upon the traveler on a road that he should not have been on. (Fisk)

I am a fan of both Bret and Punk, but Punk has a VERY LONG way to go before he reaches the level of Bret.

Re: "Backstage" News on Punk's Status, Being Compared to Bret Hart

It's rather evident how much they are reliant on Punk at the moment, with the ever-thinning main event level roster and whatnot. Orton is now making a movie and has lost quite a bit of mojo/momentum and probably just a touch of respect and admiration as a locker room leader in the immediate aftermath of his Wellness policy suspension. Cena is completely banged up and simply can't work live events or even TV at the moment, either. Sheamus, Big Show and Alberto Del Rio are all working Smackdown events at the moment. Rey Mysterio gets injured every other month and is in constant agonizing pain and needs to strongly consider retirement in the near future.

Truth be told, once you get past the above names, with Cena and Orton out, probably the hottest act and at least plausible "draw" for a bunch of fans, of sorts, would be Team Hell No. I was reading house show reports from this past weekend and Team Hell No have opened up a bunch of live events to get the crowd going immediately, and they've been wrestling Kofi Kingston and R-Truth, and Team Hell No's so hot and over, that the fans are even booing Kofi and especially Truth during the matches, haha.

The Hogan/Hart Cena/Punk comparison is spot on IMO. Its just kind of scary to me the WWE has become so dependant on 2 (or 3 if you want to count Orton) guys (with one main one in Cena)

Seems like the people talking about Bret is better than Punk and vice versa only read the thread title as that has nothing to do with this story.

Anything to ignore the point of a thread and engage in another pointless mark war. Ugh.

You make some excellent points. It's WWE's fault that the upper card of the roster is so thin. I remember back in the day when there were at least 4 guys that could all be considered "carry the company." WWE needs to start thinking about the future. Then again, they should've started years ago.

Cena is 35. He's always bragged how he's "always there and never leaving" for so long. I appreciate his work ethic and always being present to all WWE events in addition to his Make-a-Wish and Troops work, but the man is human. Eventually he will wear out or, God forbid, get seriously injured.

Orton is another one. The man apparently got himself to purposely fail the Wellness Policy just so he could get some time off. WWE's schedule is pure hell.

Now is the time when WWE should be building future stars using the veterans they have. Instead of Cena main eventing every PPV and always winning, he should be helping build top-notch heels.

Am I out of line?
