WWE is the reason "Lord Tensai" failed.
Anyone who keeps up with Japanese wrestling, knows that Tensai is one of the more agile big guys out there. He reminds me of Vader, just a smash-mouth brawling style but can also pull off some impressive ariel moves aswell.
Right now, Tensai is showing everyone what he's really got. When he comes out, he means business. He comes in, wrecks shit up but thanks to WWE, still loses. It's funny because WWE had him stripped off his talent when he came in. Some people say "He had his chance and failed" but it wasn't like that at all. You watch the matches Tensai has had with Sheamus and Orton, and even in the MITB match. He stole the show. This is the Tensai we should be having.
But WWE had him worrking this slow style, he seemed to be doing more ninja taunting than anything else. Again, this is all WWE's doing. They were too focused on getting his stupid character traits over when he should have been killing people. The next week, the guy was speaking Japanese. How anyone can put that on the performer is beyond me. And how WWE thought the guy became Japanese after spending a few years abroad is even more beyond me. The whole experience should have gave him just that - more experience. If they went about it the right way, I imagine Tensai would be a credible main eventer by now.
As for the other things that were stripped off his character...
The entrance gear - I'm mixed on this. On one side, we need more cool attiires and characters and it made Tensai look like a cool cartoon character. Wrestling should have more of that stuff. I liked the entrance gear, but I'm also not against the guy just coming out like a beast and wrecking shit up.
The green mist - could have been used to further a great storyline if WWE went into details about all the different mists and colors and how they affect the opponent differently. Imagine if he used the black mist and caused permanent blindness to a face CM Punk? That would be a great feud. It would sympathise the crowd with Punk, and he would be the perfect guy to pull it off. I think they should bring the mist back, even though it's cliche for a "Japanese" character to have, I still think it serves its place in the wrestling world and should be used by atleast one guy.
The claw - This was an old school move but in my opinion, it made Tensai look too slow which is not him at all. I'm glad he ditched this move. I want to see him use the sitout powerbomb aswell as the Baldo Bomb. If Tensai brought this back on occasion, it would be cool. However WWE ruined the move when they told him to spit green mist on his hand instead of the original dust he was using.
Him beating up Sakamoto - I didn't like this at all. Sure it's a first but it was stupid.
I reckon there is stilll some redemption there. I mean the guy did beat John Cena and CM Punk square in the ring. I would absolutely love to see a Sheamus/Tensai feud for the title. And I can't help but think Tensai vs Undertaker would be a fantastic feud if they brought all of Tensai's unique character traits in. THOUGHTS.
