A Sheamus vs. Punk feud in the coming months?

On the last couple of Raws it seems like WWE has made hints at a possible CM Punk vs. Sheamus match to take place some time at a future PPV. Last week, Punk stated the match (albeit he was talking Champion vs. Champion) deserved to take place at a WrestleMania. This past episode in a backstage segment AJ mentioned a "Punk vs. Sheamus match deserves more build" than an inconsequential TV match. So I definitely see it taking place on a PPV either this year or maybe even at WrestleMania 29 next year. I think Punk/Sheamus is a fresh rivalry with potential to be an entertaining program.

Sheamus working a program with a talent like Punk could help him improve his promo game and add more depth to his character if the feud is backed with strong writing and delivery. Sheamus is currently going through a massive push as one of the top babyfaces in the company, and Punk of course is the top heel in the company so I think a story about their status in WWE, and a fight over the World Heavyweight Championship could make for a solid build to WM29 if they choose to go that route.

Opinions on this potential feud/match?

Ughh, I really hope not. That would be a huge demotion for Punk, and he's suffered enough, having to play second fiddle as WWE Champion to that backstabbing snake, Cena, the last thing I want to see is him jobbing to a clown. And believe me he will, there's no chance at ALL that Sheamus doesn't win that feud.

When WWE was struggling, it's Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart in the main event going 60 minutes, people are leaving during the main event of WrestleMania, you can check the video tape, and Hall and Nash have both told me that Vince said that night, that he would rather have a half full arena cheering for the guy that he says to cheer for, than a full arena cheering for whoever they want.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sheamus kicks Punk's head off at Mania.

I called it the moment Punk turned heel.

I cant see this happening unless punk loses the title. One time Tv match or even a PPV match is fine but there is no reason to do a Champion vs Champion feud right now. I mean we all know they are not going to unify the titles.

True, it is in a way, demotion for punk from current status but considering he needs to do something to stay relevant in the main event scene after he loses the title to the Rock, this is not such a bad idea actually. Besides Sheamus definitely needs a main event heel to go over and to establish himself, punk can be that heel for him but I understand punk fans dont wanna see that happen.

As a punk fan if at wm he does not face rock for the title or hhh the best option is sheamus :/. I can see this being one of the mania matches. Depends on when punk faces the rock

I guess, although I don't want Punk to lose, but Sheamus being the top baby-face was probably planned even before Punk himself forced the WWE to give him better treatment last year IMO. I just don't want the feud to be so one-sided even if Sheamus wins the feud.

Isn't this forum 70% Punk fans? well imagine a lot of them becoming similar to me with my hating antics on Sheamus...it gonna be brutal for the mods.

I think they are planing this feud for WM,if they're trying to unify the belts, this the best choice, plus the best one to face punk at WM is sheamus. With Sheamus going over, I can see him being the next face of the company.

Well, I don't like Sheamus either, but if wwe trying to build him as the next face of the company, than I'm with this feud, I mean, isn't everyone sick of Cena being face? I know Sheamus is not the perfect choice for being the next big thing for the fans, but if wwe chooses him, then no one can do anything about it.Besides Sheamus's success means Cenas heel turn.

No I'm okay with it, Sheamus is worse than him, this RAW for example Cena showed again that he can do mic... now Sheamus at the other hand on his segment was embarrassing.

That said I doubt Vince gonna make Sheamus the face of the company but the face of SD, so we are in the awful situation of having two Cenas and one was enough for me >_>

Re: A Sheamus vs. Punk feud in the coming months?

If you dont like Cena/Sheamus, it means you simply dont like top babyfaces. Lets face it, this is not the era for a rebellious anti-authority hero, the summer of punk bombed as for ratings are concerned. And Steve Austin aint coming back.

I dont really get what else people expect with Current WWE? If it isnt Cena or Sheamus, its going to be someone similar with a watered down character, anyway. It could be Miz or Punk or hell even Ziggler. Atleast Sheamus is a believable badass with the right looks.

If IWC had their way, every superstar on the roster would be a heel.
