This is the idea for a new hardcore division to improve SD (change form PG to TV-14.

1. Form a roster with new guys preferably the x-NXT's.

2. Give each guy a character and gimmick and work to build them.

3. This can be the roster :

Jacob Novak

Kaval

Conor O'Brian

Johnny Curtis

Derrick Bateman

Eli Cottonwood

Lucky Cannon

4. Have a segment to build the storyline and feud every week for 10-15 mins for the title.

5. Have an hardcore match every week with blood on alternate weeks these matches will involve trash cans, barbed wire, barbed wired chair, kendo sticks, tables, ladders, road signs, thumb tacks and other hardcore stuffs and matches will be of type steel cage, fatal 4 way, 5 man ladder, first blood, i quit, on on one etc.

6. Have other established stars of the roster give occasional reigns.

7. Add comic angles and have funny title changes once in a while.

Will give more updates later on.

This would be terrific, though in the current form it probably wouldn't be implimented to a T. However, doesn't mean the Hardcore division couldn't make a come back, or they could even come up with some modern day equivilent like maybe the 'Xtreme Division', not that I think it's a better name of course, but perhaps it could deal with a story line which would see the return of the Hardcore Championship.

Also I think it should save barbed wire, thumb tacks, all that for PPVs, just to keep it fresh and avoid any problems that may pop up. Also if you throw in Joseph Ruud aka Erick Rowan from ECW, I will approve of this 100%.

LOL, you realize four of those guys don't even work for the WWE anymore, right?

SmackDown is NOT changing to PG 14 any time soon, just drop the idea. It's not happening. And you can't do a Hardcore division with PG, otherwise it looks ridiculous. Plus, that's an absolutely shit group of guys. Worst division in the WWE if they put it together.

Well actually it could work, just not in the capacity most of us would appreciate. Though still, in theory it could still be entertaining, however booking/creative is pretty lax, so not only would this probably not happen, but if it did happen it would be pretty bad.

Horrible idea. Both WWF's and WCW's Hardcore divisions from the late 90s/early 00s were poor, and were not over. If they were to rekindle it today, it would be far far worse and even less people would care about it. Hardcore/brutal gimmick matches should only really feature in feuds that have good heat, or where the performers can really excite a crowd through use of said gimmickry. Hardcore divisions inevitably end up with two guys pummeling each other with weapons, and no one caring. It wouldn't work at all in modern day WWE where wrestler safety is valued (and rightly so).

Hardcore title matches were entertaining during the Crash Holly, Blackman, Hardcore Holly, Shane O Mac days and some moments provided comic relief, this can work if they work on the characters and script and give interesting build ups though maybe short like the attack on Crash on laundry, Patterson winning the title or Match changing to War but it shouldn't be like the TNA X-Division sort of thing. Curtis is my choice to become a legend out of the feuds and get over followed by Cannon and a bit of Novak and Kaval. Curtis has the perfect looks of an hardcore champion imo, he will make the title look good if he is packaged and worked on well and given good scripts and out of the box ideas.

but, this is the whole idea of wrestling in general. There are no new ideas in your OP.

work to build them? duh.
have segments to build story lines? duh.
add comic angles? duh.

this is just a hate thread for the WWE in denial.

@Skyfall can you give an example of something new or explain?

According to my story Johnny Curtis will be over out of this he will put on some great one on one matches first with the rest 7 and will have an epic rivalry with Cannon which will end in a WM hardcore match and will put on some matches to remember and will have a win-loss record of 25-11 at the end of it including multi member matches, after the WM match he will go on a winning streak against established guys like Ryder, Mahal, Otunga, Hawkins, Sin Cara etc. successfuly defending the title and have the record for the longest hc title reign then he can challange John Cena in a title vs title match and will put up a great match even for a losing effort this will get him over and he will then get pushed for the upper titles.

well, first off, having your story followed will never happen. I mean, making a thread saying WWE should do this is constantly done and serves no purpose. You can go to the BTB section if you'd like.

as for new things? I don't want a repeat of what we already had just for nostalgic purposes. We need new things, to be different. Just repeating old ideas on new people is stale. I don't really have any whole new ideas, so I didn't make a thread.

Your autosuggestion is :

1. take wrestler
2. ???
3. puts wrestler over

your ??? is by using old ideas. I don't want that.

Yeahj that division is dead unless they do ppv only matches which would suck for most that dont watch those, a better idea is us champ on smack down and bring back the european title to have people bid for it, would be great way for Drew McIntyre to get back on tv and there are a lot of so called european stars that could be used.

Great entertainment!:

WWE can add great entertainment value to the product if they add a hardcore division.

Why does everyone always think the hardcore title was thumbtacks and blood? That stuff was only ever reserved for heated feuds between the top stars (Foley vs Edge, Orton, HHH & Taker etc).

The hardcore title was a tacky belt for the lower-card which didn't allow any of the lower stars to show their full potential, because all that "tv time" was used to show them hitting each other with comedy objects (rolling bowling ball, picture frame etc) or flimsy items (trash cans...) rather than wrestling each other. If you were to resurrect it in 2012, then you'd have guys like Tyson Kidd in that division and his ability is better used in 10 minute matches on superstars rather than in an under 5 minute "hardcore" match.

Don't get me wrong, they were entertaining in their own way, but it wouldn't be the salvation of the midcard if it was to return like some people say...

And as for TV-PG being the reason why the WWE isn't doing hardcore matches? Smackdown has pretty much always been PG and the Orton vs Otunga match from the Christmas themed episode of Smackdown last year wasn't too far off the TV hardcore title matches of over 10 years ago and it was a good piece of light hearted entertainment, but it would wear very thin if done week-in, week-out.

I wouldn't mind a rebranded Hardcore division, but I think they need to unify the two World Titles before introducing any other belts.

The Title heirarchy should be
WWE - main event
Intercontinental - upper midcard, established veterans, and main event guys who can't fit into the World Title picture but need to stay relevant.
United States - Lower midcard, upper midcard guys who can't fit into the IC Title picture, but need to stay relevant
Hardcore - mostly midcard with the occasional main event or uppercard guy mixed in.

I kind of want them to steal WCW's design

or rehash the ECW Championship design and change it to say "Hardcore"

The belt looks more prestigious so it looks like the wrestlers are "digging through shit to find gold". There should not be defined "division" as I think every wrestler, regardless of position on the card should compete for this title, as it gives an opportunity for rare low carder vs. main eventer matches. Remember that really goofy Miracle on 34th Street Fight that David Otunga had against Randy Orton. We could have more matches like that. Plus the new Hardcore title can be used to keep guys relevant once they're out of the World Title picture.

1. The majority of the wrestlers wrestling in this division could be brawlers, high flyers, and guys with an MMA based moveset.

Alex Riley - An intense and explosive brawler who mixes power moves and cruiserweight style moves seamlessly
Antonio Cesaro - A stiff worker with an pronouned mean streak
Christian - A master of Tables, Ladders, and chairs.
CM Punk - The Best in the World. If the Hardcore champion can withstand the onslaught of the WWE Champion, it would help legitimize him
Damien Sandow - Since RAW 1000, the Intellectual Savior has had a bit of a violent aggressive streak. What will happen once the rule book is thrown out?
Daniel Bryan - His anger issues and brutal kicks and submissions would make him a formidable opponent,
Dolph Ziggler - The self proclaimed showoff doesn't mind stealing the show in any fashion. He deserves to be in the main event, but he's the type of guy who feels that he IS the main event no matter what spot he's in.
Drew McIntyre - Capable of using the entire ring as a weapon.
Justin Gabriel - The high flying South African could do well in this division
Kane - The Devil's Favorite Demon would relish and environment where he can inflict pain on others and it would be perfectly within the rules.
Kofi Kingston - He's held every other midcard title, so why not. He's also displayed bouts of aggression in the past as well.
Mark Henry - The World's Strongest Man could easily hurt people by putting them through tables.
The Miz - Not the best grappler by any means, but he has no problem kicking and stomping the shit out of people.
Randy Orton - The Viper would thrive in this environment. If they won't push him towards a World Title any time soon, he would make a good Hardcore Champion
Ryback - This juggernaut wants to eat. Feed. Him. More. But let's see how well he uses utensils.
Santino Marella - Since the Cobra is "real" now, it's technically a weapon. Also this might allow him to utitlize his MMA ability as well, by demolishing his opponents with elbows and knee strikes.
Sheamus - Although he's the current World Champion, he loves a good fight. Once he drops the World Title, the Hardcore championship might be a good way for him to stay relevant.
Sin Cara - A high flyer who would be able to use the entire environment for his aerial offense.
Tensai - An stiff big man. He needs something to do, right.
Trent Baretta - Another high flyer who could use ladders and tables
Tyson Kidd - A high flyer and a submission specialist.

All Hardcore Title matches will by default be no-DQ, no-countout, and Falls Count Anywhere but weapon use will be kept to a minimum for the sake of PG. The hardcore matches would be more like the "Street Fights" we've seen in recent years.

Occasionally, the Hardcore Title can be defended in a gimmick match such as a Cage Match, Ladder Match, Tables Match, or TLC Match.
