That entire sequence of Apollo Crews was a complete disgrace. That actually infuriated me a lot.
You have Sheamus beat the hell out of him and then he comes out and is able to use his full arsenal with no problem about 30 minutes later. No holding the arm, no holding the leg, limping or holding his head for any amount of time.
They didn't even have him start to show injury FROM the attacks where he would sell more than usual because he is softened.
To top it all off, not only was he bad at selling prior injury, he was bad as just selling any of Jericho's actual offense. I am sorry that is awful, did he not listen to an agent or doesn't know how to tell a story? Did an agent script this poorly?
I really hope that wasn't Apollo Crews seriously attempting to sell or tell a story, because if so, then I have to point out he's a terrible storyteller. If an agent seriously greenlit that, then they need to be sacked immediately.
It made Apollo Crews unintentionally look like the strongest guy on the roster.
That was completely unacceptable and turned that entire match into one big plothole. Complete rubbish.
Yeah I didn't get it either. Simple booking you have him limp to the match and look like he's in a lot of pain which would gather him sympathy from the crowd, heel heat on both Sheamus and Chris Jericho, and make his loss look protected.
He was called up much to early I don't see how he doesn't lost in the shuffle

The guy has a lot of potential but 100% the call up was too early for him. He should have stayed on NXT and learned to hone his skills and build up a bigger following first.
No sold the beatdown and came out smiling like fuck, like he always does. Then, he had a terrible botch against Jericho in their match.. Not a good night for Terry Crews.
I totally forgot to mention this! Wow, he also botched kipping up before he was lionsaulted. Thanks for mentioning. That adds even more problems to the presentation of Crews.
I had to laugh at this as well. But it is what it is.
I don't even know what that kip-up/lionsault thing was supposed to be.
Crews is obviously a beast of an athlete but he's got no character to him at all. All the other indy guys like Styles, Owens, Zayn, etc at least "look" cool. This guy is basically Ezekiel Jackson after a few Red Bulls.
Botch? I didn't see the whole match because I went for some dinner, what botch happened? I'm quite disappointed he lost but I'm happy to see Chris involved with Money in the Bank this year.
I was listening to Meltzer and Avlerez a few weeks ago and Meltzer suspected Vince saw Crews and went "Holy Shit look at him I want him on the main roster NOW!" He said the same thing happened when Vince saw Bobby Lashley. Apparently OVW agents had been trying to hide him from Vince, because they knew the moment he saw him he was going to want him on the main roster and he wasn't ready, and he ended up bombing and leaving a couple years later.
If they aren't careful with Crews the same thing will happen.
Why the hell did they call this guy up? I watched his match. He can go in the ring. But his character and gimmick is all wrong. Repackage him as a heel a year down the line. And re start.
eh. Just call him half-Samoan, put him in the "bloodline" and he'll fit right in. You don't even have to worry about him no selling and smiling anymore, it won't even seem out of place.
Dude, at least Roman or Cena could actually look damaged going into a match already beat down. Apollo Crews went in looking 100%, not even 90%. He didn't even vary, you can say the top guys don't sell all you want but at least they have some slight variance, crews doesn't even look like he's ever hurt.
Why did they bring him up so soon? Yeah he has talent but has really cannot sell or tell a story. Also he is literally generic smiley happy guy and has zero character
There are intricate aspects to selling, sure, and some get it better than others, of course, but Jesus, this seems so fucking basic. Are you so worried about kipping up that you forget to FUCKING HOLD YOUR RIBS EVEN IF JUST ONCE?
Dumb fuck buried himself, the whole point of Sheamus attacking him is so he was protected in his first loss but by completely no selling the attack and smiling like a big doofus he made the attack look like it had 0 effect so instead he just lost clean.
Wow, you're right. It's one thing to have minimal selling and have the announcers say "still feeling the effects of the attack". Even if he were just a bad seller, he would have still gotten himself over. All he had to do was a do that kip-up but then hold his back or head or not completely land it, SOMETHING so the announcers could indicate it and make you look vulnerable.
The fact that he completely IGNORED the story element, took it off the table and then made himself buried. Wow, I didn't think it was possible to no sell so hard that you make yourself look weaker. :lmao
I want to believe that his no selling was because this was a great opportunity for him and was willing to give his 120%, but he still should sold a little bit the beatdown.
The issue is that if he really wanted to "give his 120%", Crews would have put a lot more effort into telling a compelling story. Going that extra mile in ring psychology demonstrates a lot more dedication than simply hitting all his spots and showcasing his athleticism.
Crews needs to be sent back to NXT or get a better agent for his matches. He no sold his beating from Sheamus and was still happy go lucky. Those are basics he should have down.
What's Crews' schtick? I don't watch NXT and I haven't noticed any defining traits about him. Is there more to him than smiling and flippity flopping or is he going to be another Neville?
Serious question. I really know next to nothing about him.
Crews is awful. He's the black Sin Cara. If he isn't botching his offense is missing the mark by a country mile. He's the wrestler that makes little kids realize it's fake because he's so bad at everything
I think this shows how 1 dimensional he is, there is no depth, reminds me of Roman just a log in the ring. People talk about how plain jane he is, and I agree.
Example: Dwight Howard always plays basketball with a smile. Then all the Houston reporters and analysts called him out for not having any passion or ever getting into the game, they thought he was just happy out there and dicking around.
Well if Apollo doesn't have a different face than that smile, then he needs to take acting classes or something. Roman needs the same thing, when people talk on mic at Roman he just has that laughing smirk, and when pumped he does the same shaking head, tongue out, and hang-5 hand sign.
Great idea. I'll hire him a dance instructor. Smiling and dancing is the perfect gimmick for a wrestler such as Apollo.
