I think WWE managed to stumble upon a gem with AJ's booking. The whole thing about Gallows & Anderson being so willing to help AJ I feel is a nice gimmick for him given that he's an indie legend.
If they called up a few more indie guys and have them all be like how Gallows & Anderson are with AJ, I think they would have pretty much given him a gimmick he can use for life. The indie legend who all indie legends feels deserves to be "the guy". And just keep AJ as the poor babyface who can't control the guys who want to help him, but at the same time doesn't want to lose them.
I don't get that from this feud but I can see one can arrive to that conclusion. In reality, this angle is to turn Styles heel when be finally agrees to join up with Gallows & Anderson out of frustration/desperation, OR to debut a heel Balor once Gallows & Anderson feel offended due to AJ rebuffing their aid and his inability to get the job done vs Reigns. Balor will likely debut in that scenario to "replace" Styles, forming the "Bullet/Balor Club" and fued with him.
This is the most obvious choice with Balor turning heel, his character is too wishy washy to be full fledged face and a cocky heel will work and probably be one of the feuds of the year with Styles if it eventuates in a clean one on one payoff at the end.
Sometimes obvious storylines can really be the best way, sometimes.
I'd love to see Balor and Styles feud all the way to Survivor Series, blowing out the rivalry with a ladder match ...
Simple, classic booking is all that'd be needed for these two. They are both incredible in the ring and have such similar work styles that it'd be amazing to watch.
It'd also harken back to Styles' matches with Daniels back in TNA. Both high fliers with good ground attack and mat work, greatly varied moveset and cardio conditioning like crazy.
That would be such an exciting set of matches. Seems way too good to come true!
I think another thing that's helping this feud is that Roman's alignment isn't unequivocal. So thanks to their own incompetence, they did something good as a result.
This can probably be good for a feud reunion too if they feel like AJ & bullet club are doing an injustice by singling out who they think is the rightful "guy" .
:damn the idea of a Balor debut feuding with AJ is epic and, considering all their past history, you know their matches will be incredible to watch and overall it'd be the best way to debut and elevate Balor straight off his call-up. Whether they do it as Balor assisting Anderson/Gallows in helping AJ that eventually turns into a backstab from Balor to AJ with a savage beatdown much like when Rollins deserted Shield except Anderson/Gallows side with Balor leaving AJ to go full solo babyface.
I've been wondering if the electric chemistry between AJ and Roman has altered plans at all. Stable wars for the next few months could be pretty compelling if done right.
I don't know what you're talking about, it isn't indie people helping each other because they were indie people together. They simply established that Anderson/Gallows have been friends with AJ for years (which is good to acknowledge that on screen) and they're trying to help their friend, thus causing a conflict with Reigns.
Any excuse to get Christopher Daniels and Kazarian on my TV weekly is okay by me.
