Best opponents for Kalisto's US title reign?

Welp, WWE is doing something different at least, but what Kalisto needs is feuds, not just matches, people need promos, storylines, and good character development to get invested in matches, considering its Kalisto we're talking about here, the in ring part should be down pat, NOW'S the time to work on the "entertainment" aspect of this title reign.

Thread sounds simple enough, right? Just post the top 3 best opponents for Kalisto as US champion.

Agreed, WWE fucked that one up royally though. The perfect feud for him to win it too, take it from an anti American heel on a dominant win streak, and bring it back home where it belongs, the conquering, patriotic, hero...that got crushed. -_-

Sigh...well, what can you do?

I love his US title reign. He has done much better in his matches than Cena. Imagine him vs Cena's opponents. OMG!

He needs more shine though.

He is a prime example of the bullshit I saw last year. The US title was not being elevated as evident by the current situation. It was the John Cena Show. They made it all about him and gave his matches 30 minutes. His opponents were doing all sorts of incredible things in the ring and performance wise. He was the same old Cena.

Kalisto has been killing it in the matches, but they haven't given him as much shine because Vince doesn't have a hard on for him like he does Cena.

Really pisses me off, and continues to fuel my hatred for that vanilla, boring, no selling, no psychology, blatant spot calls, 5 moves of doom scrub.

Yes yes, very true, that whole reign was never about restoring prestige to the belt, it was just about shutting Cena's haters up by putting him in the ring with all around better workers, trying to prove he can wrestle afterall.

Whether they succeeded or failed in that venture is to interpreta...oh who the fuck am I kidding? CENA SUUUUUX!!!!

Ahem...thanks for your contribution. :]

Well none really AJ Styles and Kalisto could be interesting match though I don't know how exciting the feud is going to be

I still want a IC US title unification match , when the IC is good the US title is shit and when the US title is good the IC is shit

I love Ambrose as champ, Karlisto not so much

Here's an idea...why not both titles be equal to each other? That way you could potentially elevate two talents at once.

Regardless, I do like Ambrose as IC champion as well, but I feel that he's too restricted by this era, I mean for a guy who's dubbed the "Lunatic Fringe", he hasn't really done anything worthy of that title imo. He just looks like another guy on the roster right now, too average to stand out, but this is why we have things like promos and backstage segments for, to help a character develop and grow in an effort to connect with the crowd...which WWE has either forgotten about all together or just doesn't want anyone out shining their golden boy, in which case fuck Vince as per usual.

Haven't watched much of NXT, how good is Breeze's workrate? Also, he needs to be built up before he can challenge for a singles title imo, he's kind of a joke right now with his current booking.

Fucking Vince and his bodybuilder fetish. -_-

Neville - Really want to see these two have 15-20 mins to put on a match where they both get their big spots in, would be awesome.

Miz - I'm enjoying the Miz's work lately and he would have a lot of heel material to use against Kalisto on the mic (hiding behind a mask, too small etc.)

Luke Harper - Would be a random as hell feud but a match between the two could be great I think, it's a good David vs Goliath match but Harper has enough agility to bring a new and interesting aspect to that kind of big vs small match.

Neville.
Stardust.
Tyler Breeze.

They sadly don't appear to have much in place for the title post Fast Lane though. I reckon they'll have a ladder match for the US title this time at Mania instead of the IC.

And all because they don't know how to book their own midcard anymore, it goes without saying not everyone can be a main eventer, but the midcard is still an important part of the show, as it serves as the buildup to the main event, keeping the crowd entertained throughout the night while building up anticipation for said main event, not to mention the IC title used to be the launching pad to the main event, which is now little more than a prop one would use to hold their pants up, or wipe their ass with, in my case I'd lean more to the latter option.

Every part of the show regardless of its placement deserves to be treated with respect, and everyone whom participates in the show should be given a fair chance to shine, for it is the talent that makes the show what it is, not just the writing or the booking, but without performers to...y'know, perform, simply put, there IS no show.

There is so very much that could be done with the talent they have...and they continue to do soooo very little...-_-

I think they could keep the whole underdog thing going.

While I absolutely hate Ryback and Rybacks clear Vince's fetish, I don't think ryback has any character and he's boring. Quite frankly I go do something else for Rybacks matches.

However, I do think Ryback could be a good opponent for Kalisto.

Here's how I would book it:

On raw:
Kalisto puts on a fairly good match against absolutely anyone, he gets run over by said opponent, preferably someone rising up the roster for mania. Like... Luke Harper for example.

Then after the match Ryback comes out, begins gloating that he's the "big guy" and puts on this whole Vince McMahon fetish thing in the idea that little guys can't compete inside the ring.

Then he simply leaves.

Snackdown:

Kalisto beats someone who has nothing going for them, like Tyler breeze, and as he's walking backstage see Ryback attack him. He crushes Kalisto.

Raw:

Kalisto demands a match with Stephanie (which gives the authority something to do other then annoy us with this Roman Reigns b.s) and they agree, Ryback vs Kalisto on monday night raw. Where Kalisto barley eeks out a victory.

Snackdown

Kalisto comes down at the start of the show (better then the 20 minuet raw recap) and discusses how as the little guy he's constantly put down and run over (probably drops eddie and reys names again) when Ryback comes out and claims Kalisto got lucky. Setting up a fued match at fastlane.

Fastlane:

Kalisto beats Ryback hands down which pisses Ryback off, Ryback embarrassed and humiliated he fleas. Which the following weeks Ryback does some desperate heel stuff that leads to Ryback vs Kalisto at Mania.

But we'll prob have a meaningless match after match until there's an absolute random title match at fastlane and Mania.

That's really solid, and yeah Ryback works best as a heel, his best character/mic work to date has been his bully stuff, maybe they could bring that character and pretty do everything else you stated above, speed vs power always has the potential to be fun to watch, Kalisto playing the underdog of course, being forced on the defensive by the sheer brawn of his opponent, trying to work out a way to get him off his feet, while Ryback is the big mean aggressive bully, utilizing his size and strength advantage to pulverize and torment his smaller, weaker, foe.

If pulled off right, I can imagine the crowd getting behind Kalisto when he's making a comeback, I could see this working even better if their roles were reversed tbh, but nonetheless it's a great scenario honestly. 8/10

I would like them to actually build something with Kalisto and Neville. There match a couple of weeks ago was brilliant and I know with some build and giving there matches a bit more time, it will get better. Give Neville a tweener/heel vibe to work with and it will freshen him up a little to go along with it.

If WWE wants to establish Kalisto as the next big latino supertar (IF) he must overcomes all the League of Nations first, he already overcome Del Rio so Rusev should be next at Fastlane, then Sheamus at WM 32 ( in a better scenario the Kalisto vs Del Rio match would have take place in WM but they already booked the match).

We still don't know WHO is Kalisto, what's his gimmick? masked men number 23?

WWE should use all these weeks leading to WM to build his character, let him cut some promos, have him involved in some backstage segment, maybe some vignettes about his past (kayfabe), otherwise crowds will become apathetic to him as the weeks go by.
