Why is Raw longer than the PPVs?

I live in east coast USA.

From 8:00PM to 11:15PM is Raw. Sometimes Raw will go on until 11:30pm.

A PPV or Network PPV last from 8PM to 10:45PM.

Anyone find that stupid?

Why do they feature rematches from the PPV on RAW the next night?

Why do they literally have two wrestlers in a midcard feud wrestle on RAW before a pay per view and then expect you to pay to see them wrestle?

What does this have to do with your thread?

Logic... doesn't have a place in the WWE.

I dont get the hate for 3 hour raw i always torrent it since tv in my country aint got raw and the torrent releases are very good quality and have most adds cut most of the time and 1 episode is only 2 hours and a few minutes -_-

This isn't true in the modern era. I made a thread about this actually, as there's an obvious disconnect between Vince talking about sports entertainment (which is what we need) and the fact that Raw is actually a wrestling show. There's always 2 if not 3 20 minute matches, several title matches and so on. What let's Raw down is that these matches need to be ppv and that we need more wildy violent, crazy, funny back stage segments/brawls etc.

Because they need to pay advertisers. Advertisers pay a lot of money for ad spots. But 3 hrs is too much. It needs to go back to 2 hrs. HHH even said that on The Austin Podcast. if it was up to him he would go back to 2 hrs. He feels in that hour, its more filler stuff. With 2 hrs it would give more time for a more designated show.

In theory, Raw gives more time to hype the matches and feature the entire roster, where PPVs are the cream of the crop and only the best make it on the show. Taking into account advertising on Raw that doesn't occur on a PPV, I'd say the actual production is longer on a PPV than on Raw.

Does anyone know how long a Raw is without adverts compared to a PPV?? I'd guess the PPV is longer.

Unfortunately I can only buy that in theory. And it's definitely not how they try and promote/sell the PPVs anymore.

Ultimately, I think it's another component to factor in when it comes to the formatting issues which plague the modern-day product.

Cut the adverts out and it's actually 30 minutes shorter. A PPV is almost 3 hours solid. Some RAWs are just 2 hours and 10 minutes.

3 hours is too much time to sit down and watch one show straight. Think of 3 hour films, there's probably just a couple that warrant the full time. At least with a movie you can pause it, watch the second half later. With "most" TV you can't do that. It's ignorant to expect people to sit and watch the show for that long in one sitting. Meaning a lot of people are channel surfing or the show is in the background playing second fiddle to whatever else they are doing. When it was 2 hours it was okay. The change is great for advertising dollars but terrible for everyone else - fans, wrestlers and the writers. Think how difficult it is to write a 3 hour movie/ show that doesn't drag and is supposed to keep a viewer engaged entirely throughout? Almost impossible.
