His whole King gimmick has become a comedy act due to his constant jobbing. Why was Ryback even put over barrett in the first place?
Is this suppose to be yet another WWE's "push" of Wade Barrett? At this point its almost like they are fucking with the guy intentionally. It makes no sense why even bother having him win KOTR only to make a mockery out of the gimmick and the winner.
This. He was getting too over as Bad News Barrett so they made him stop telling bad news and stripped him off the gimmick. Now they've given him a worse gimmick (which he has the talent to somewhat salvage) but they're continuing to make him lose constantly.
I think KOTR was an excuse to give Barrett a new gimmick. Bad News Barrett was getting over much to Vince's chagrin. The whole KOTR came and went. If you missed a week, you would have never even noticed.
Edit- This is better: he's like the guy with the flaming sword from Game of Thrones (Beric Dondarrion).
He keeps dying and every time he does, the WWE will do something like a title win or KOTR to breathe life back into him. And they do this just so they have a heel to keep their priority faces busy in between real feuds.
And every time they resurrect him, he's a little weaker.
At the same time, they don't want him to get over because they lose their eternal whipping boy and would rather not deal with the complications of credibly booking someone they don't like.
I'm the first to support the WWE but I think they got to do a better job of pushing people. Barrett's the king, he should be pushed to the moon not jobbing to Ryback. Rollins is the champ but he loses more often than he wins.
As they said during the match, he's a 5 time IC champion, been in the cell twice and is King of the Ring, his duty is to put others over for now I guess.
He was a glorified jobber during all those times too. Championships mean nothing if the person with the belt is a jobber; the belt doesn't raise their credibility, the loser drags down the credibility of the belt.
Because if they start booking a guy they want to be in the midcard to start winning all his matches, the crowd will eventually want him to fight for the WWE title :draper2
I think Barret is the kind of character ATM that if he starts winning a lot of matches, he'll go from forced heel to tweener to face really quick - and I don't think the WWE want that to happen.
they seem to want to push Barrett a lot but he seems get caught up it shuffle every time and they don't seem to know what to do with him. its unfortunate as he had potential to be great heel and main eventer around Nexus time.
Back in the day KOTR was a huge deal and basically meant you were the future. It had prestige. Now the tournament is thrown together over a few days and the winner jobs afterwards which basically confirms they did it just to say they have network exclusives rather than it have any meaning.
Is it seriously any wonder people are switching off? It's absolutely dire.
he just doesn't have the over the top personality to pull it off. most of the "king's" make a joke out of the gimmick. sheamus, barrett, etc. unless u embrace it, it's just extremely corny. but if u embody the part of king, it's good entertainment. king booker was incredible at pulling it off, they should study film of him, and do their best to replicate it.
I don't quite understand why there was a King of the Ring, let alone why Barrett won if they just continue to have him lose for no reason. It's supposed to be a tool to push someone...
He was only given the title King cause of British connection. SMH. Typical WWE and their stereotypes.
Barrett fans are so numb to this shit now that they just let it roll over them. When thing start going right for him, its like we're counting down the seconds until he ends up the creek without his paddle.
Somebody within WWE wants him to be a fully fledged Heel.
BNB was too much of a Tweener character to get smart fans to hate him.
"The King" character calling people peasants is pretty damn heelish, kinda like Shemus's bully.
There's no way of getting either character over with the fans.
They're just Heels for feuds.
Amazes me Barrett is WWE's 10th longest IC champ from his 5 reigns!
