He gave Ryder a chance in that match tonight. It sucks Ryder lost in his hometown sure but at least Ryder had a match on RAW. An actual good match. Ryder actually looked stronger then I ever seen him. Ryder supposedly a jobber came close to beating 15 World Champion. They put on a good performance. Hopefully this means they use Zack Ryder more prominently as he is a talented kid. I like how he used the Killswitch and 450 splash. I hope he adapts the Killswitch from Christian. If you think about it if Ryder faced anyone other then Cena they would've beat him almost immediately. Cena never really does squash matches. He at the very least makes his opponent look decent.

Ryder performed well, but kayfabe-wise he looked like little more than dog shit. It was a short match compared to the other US Open Challenges that we've seen in recent weeks wherein Cena ate Ryder's finisher, ate his signatures, then no-sold it all and didn't even bother doing his usual rotation, just hit him with the AA and won. Let's not hype it up just because we were excited to see Ryder actually doing something other than being a battle royal stand in.
Though generally, yes, I will give credit in the sense that the open challenge matches have been some of the better parts of recent Raws.

You mean cena that swooped in and basically stole Ryder's only actual meaningful feud and sent him back to obscurity for the last two to three years we should give him credit for this one match all this time later yeah makes sense. Sorry but the only person i have ever seen cena help is cena. Even now with these open challenges all they do is give a up and comer the opportunity to lose to Cena and try to make him look better than he is which has been status quo for the last five years or so. Tho I will give him this it was a longer match than it could have been.

Ryder is a joke and I would have loved it if it was a 1 minute squash. I'm being brutally honest. Oh and FYI Daniel Bryan came out good against Cena. And there is such a thing as looking strong in defeat which everyone his faced has throughout this challenge stuff.

The reign is exactly what that belt needed.

While Ryder being buried in his home town was not ideal he isn't gonna be the only one losing to Cena during this challenge.

The open challenge is great, yes Cena probably won't lose but he will eventually and in the mean time he is elevating younger talents.

Like how wrestlers should realize that they should move out of the way when Ambrose rebounds on the ropes?

Or how they should realize that they should duck out of the way when a high flier is about to jump on them outside the ring?

I'll just assume you mean five moves of doom in general, and not just Cena's.

i said it in the raw thread that cena would make him in that match, and he did. one of the things i like about him is he isn't all about himself. he thinks about the company. he wants everyone coming out of every match looking better. people don't like him because he's been the babyface of the company for a decade, and they act like that's his fault. he has no choice in the matter. u turn cena heel, merchandise won't move, and wwe loses money. orton? lol. ambrose is starting to develop a fanbase, but that's not a gimmick that resignates with as many kids, who are the ones buying the most merch. he's still not someone u can hand the torch to. they tried with reigns, it failed. bryan couldn't stay healthy. cena is doing the best with what he's given. it's not a hogan situation where he sucks in the ring, and doesn't have any good matches, cena actually gets the job done in the ring despite his limitations. it's hard for me to respect anyone who hates him.

I thought Zack Ryder should have gotten the victory, that would have been epic. And created the: on any given day an upset can happen. This is interesting TV.

But instead, predictable Cena victory. But even seeing him look strong makes me happy. There was a time in late 2011 where I thought he was going to be huge. The crowd LOVED him too. For some reason he was buried.

He deserves much better than the role he's been in, and last night was a start to get out of it. I hope he's used in more of a prominent role now... but watch, he will job to Sheamus next week rather quickly.

would have been better if cena squashed in 10 seconds flat and have him get attacked by kevin owens. ryder been a jobber for so long it made everyone who wrestled cena in the prior weeks look weaker by having him have so long a match against a jobber but thats my opinion. dont hate ryder he was screwed over by wwe and they should rework him but putting him in this match to have it go so long was terrible for nevile and zayn who both put up awesome performances. to make ryder credible again they need to rework him and help him get over and out of jobbervile

I am just not a fan of Cena at all. I guess he isn't BAD, but he's so boring. I'm always muting his long ass promos now & just doing something else until the match starts. I'm not saying he doesn't give good promos or matches, but I'm seriously counting down the days to his retirement.
