I can't believe what I have just watched. The best hour and a bit of RAW in YEARS. It was fantastic. Then it went to shit and they then end it with that garbage main event before having Sting come to the ring on the fucking network?
So much for thinking that the WWE was actually going to give Reigns some time to develop instead of just being put in winning positions and leeching off of other faces fpalm
Reigns has my respect as a performer, but the WWE still remains completely clueless on how to actually make him a star ... They're really hell bent on creating another Cena and another "polarizing" babyface. It's just sad to watch.
So much good well in the WWE right now ... All except for Reigns' booking.
First half started on fire, Vince woke up from the shovel and proceeded to create the shit he always creates. Feel bad for Neville though... guy realises he just joined the worst wrestling show on the planet and won't get the proper respect from the idiot in charge.
That is what the ending should do. You would think they would want a killer ending because next week they are on against the college basketball championship which always does a monster rating. So, in lieu of a truly compelling ending that makes you crave more, they foisted more of the super nonsense with Reigns. Vince just doesnt get it.
Yep. All of the good will they built up with the first half of the show went out the window, when you realized they were just putting Reigns over...again. And the crowd completely buried it....again.
When you have average talent like an old Kane, old Big Show, Reigns and Ryback in the main event, it's what you'd expect. Should have had Cenas US open challenge main event and have Ambrose go nuts after losing or Lesnars rampage end the show.
I can just imagine Dave Meltzer repeating his mantra that to create a wrestling show, it's a build-up like a match or a story or a movie. It becomes bigger and bigger and you keep your best stuff on last.
I didn't let Mania cloud my judgement of what this company has become. Booking a good ppv doesn't erase the past several months of bad weekly tv and I don't even watch it! Reading the results gave me a good idea.
I caught the replay of the first half but it's not the same as watching live, y'know? Anyway yeah, it was underwhelming and the crowd were getting a little bit annoying.
So the first RAW after Mania is designed to entice casual fans to stick with the product, instead of tuning out until next year, and tonight we were given:
- Lesnar being suspended and gone til probably SS
- Bryan/Ziggler in a great match (not amazing imo)
- Ambrose/Cena in a good match
- Super Cena to kill the crowd
- a couple NXT debuts
- filler and
- a mainevent that was completely void of anyone this type of crowd would like, and in turn completely no sold, with your top face being nearly universally booed out of the building in his finishing sequence
I wonder how the next few weeks' ratings will be
