According to a report by PWInsider.com, Bill Simmons of Grantland and hip-hop/rap artist Snoop Dogg will both be making an appearance on “Monday Night Raw” on March 23 in Los Angeles.
It’s not yet known whether Snoop will be performing live or not.
This will be the final airing of “Raw” before WrestleMania 31 on March 29.
Simmons is the Editor-in-Chief for Grantland.com, an affiliate of ESPN. He hosts his own podcast called “The B.S. Report” and is also a host of “NBA Countdown” on ESPN and ABC.
WWE recently announced that rapper Wiz Khalifa will be performing live on “Raw” when the show takes place in Pittsburgh (his hometown) on March 9.
As I said in another thread, They seem like they are writing this WM off already, sure three of the players in the ME's barely turn up (it seems one is having trouble with Vince and other won't be back until WM). It just seems like Vince is like "IT's WM, good or bad, they will buy it. As long as we get Reigns lifting the belt with fireworks around him job done, roll on WM 32".
That's why they are getting these big names in to hype up WM 31 for them, they build up the stories the best they can.
First Jon Stewart now Bill Simmons. Wow! I'm way more excited for the celebs on the show than I am the actual programming. Can't wait to see what Simmons does. Kudos to WWE.
Did they ever think for a second what fucking over a guy's fanbase who increased Smackdown viewership by about 600,000 over three weeks on a different channel would do to their interest in their show?
The guy who was tasked with being the ''face of smackdown'' for all of three weeks actually increased viewership significantly before they just completely abandoned promoting it on Raw.
Seriously the only confirmed ratings draw left on the fucking roster was DB when he returned and they completely boned him at the rumble and Smackdown viewership tanked afterwards when he wasn't being featured or having a match promoted for it.
I'm not saying DB is solely responsible of course not but his mishandling is a factor here no doubt.
When he is prominent on the show it has a vibrancy to it and when he's not it's often lackluster.
It's a bit like having Test win the Royal Rumble in 1999 and his RTWM being the main feature :lol
It needs to be quick, out of the storylines and near the start of the show. If so, fine. But if a go-home show is dominated by Snoop Dogg then I will have to take the radical step of waiting till the Tuesday or Wednesday to illegally stream Wrestlemania.
They really need ro keep these stupid "guests" away from Raw, they ALWAYS have cringey segments and half the crowd doesn't even care. Why on earth are Jon Stewart, Wiz Khalifa, Bill Simmons and Snoop Dogg showing up on a wrestling show??? its just so painfully cringey at times and they should all stick to their day jobs.
Simmons, like Stewart, is a big wrestling fan. He's quite possibly the most famous smark in America, unless you consider The Rock a smark. I'm fine with the celebrities that enjoy the product like we do, especially if they can contribute.
As for Wiz Khalifa, at least his performance gives many peoplean opportunity for a....um... wiz break.
