Maybe if you're talking specifically about WWE, then they could end up as a top five stable, but that would have to overlook some of the all-time greatest stables in professional wrestling history.
First sensible post in this thread. Either that or people are 15-20 years old.

Firstly, if a 3 person team is a stable, which it is, then the Dudleys, the Hardys and Lita are both above the Shield. They did for this organization what few others can do. Then come to the other greats like The Hart Foundation, The Von Erichs, NOD, The Corporation, The Heenan Family, Ministry of Darkness, and The Fabulous Freebirds. Mr Fuji ran a strong stable for a short while while Yokozuna was feuding The Undertaker, but maybe Shield pips them for longevity. The top Three are without a doubt The Four Horsemen, DX, and nWo.

The Corporation had the three McMahons, evil as ever. It had Test, Patterson and Brisco, The Big Bossman, Shamrock, and The Rock. Feuding against Mankind and Stone Cold. In the Attitude Era. How can you speak of The Shield in comparison?

Look, I love the Shield, but think big guys. As soon as Reigns wins the heavyweight title, they will split, if they haven't already. All the other stables above had world champions in their midst.

I love the Shield, but I don't think they can be one of the all-time stables. Do they even count as stable since they're three of them?

They've been great and one of the best things lately in WWE, but to reach the status of the Four Horsemen, nWo, DX and so on?

Unlikely.

From what I have seen in the top 3 with nWo and debatable over Evolution and DX.

Re: How high can the Shield rise on the all time Stable list?

Higher than Los Boricuas, but way lower than Nation of Domination.

Higher than The West Texas Rednecks but way lower than The Four Horsemen.

Higher than The Corre but way lower than The Nexus.

Higher than The Union but way lower than The Hart Foundation.

I think this illustrates my point. One of the better factions, but not one of the best.

END HOMOPHOBOPHOBIA!

Can't we get past the point in our society where people STILL think it's wrong to be a homophobe? Hating gays isn't a choice- you were born that way. Be who you are!

LOL at lower than Nexus. To answer the question, they're top 5 right now with DX, nWo, Evolution, and Four Horseman.

They're in my personal top 5, but as for overall greatness, I'd say not top 5, but they're somewhere.

Re: How high can the Shield rise on the all time Stable list?

Top 5. Behind Evolution, Four Horsemen, NWO, and DX.

If they really wanted to, and they had the support of the booking team, they could rise even higher. Maybe a feud with Evolution, then dominate into Wrestlemania, maybe split up afterwards with a power struggle angle.

To really climb above the above teams though, they would need to revolutionize the game, and honestly, you don't have 3 better men to do it.
