Toronto's was always a heel town. Are you that big of a mark that you get upset if the the "good guys" get booed? The Canadian crowds during the Bret/Shawn feud was amazing. The biggest heel in the company one week in the US, the bigger face in the company the next week in Canada. What kind of pussy gets upset because the crowd doesn't cheer all the lame faces?

Taxes are too high in Canada for WWE to make a large profit.

Mar 17, 2002 TORONTO, ONTARIO, March 17, 2002 - WWE Entertainment, Inc. announced today that WrestleMania®X8 at SkyDome in Toronto, Canada, is the highest grossing live event in the company’s history. The event shattered SkyDome live attendance and box office records.
Officials announced record-breaking attendance for SkyDome of 68,237, resulting in gross receipts of approximately CDN$6.1 million (US$3.9 million). Fan and corporate sponsor support was tremendous, particularly from sponsors Pizza Pizza, Playstation and Sour Skittles. More than 100,000 fans attended WrestleManiaâX8 and its three-day fan festival, FAN AXXESSTM, which preceded the event. The fan fest was held at the Automotive Building at The National Trade Centre at Exhibition Place. Through the generosity of WWE fans, the Toronto Sun, Home Game, Wal-Mart and WWE, more than CDN$90,000 was raised over the four-day event for Canadian Special Olympics and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“WWE thanks the city of Toronto and its citizens for their support and hospitality,” said Linda McMahon, CEO of WWE. “Most of all, we thank our fans who came from all around the world to attend our FAN AXXESSTM festival and WrestleManiaâX8. The continued loyalty of our fans is tremendous and deeply appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed presenting these events, and we hope that all who attended or watched on pay-per-view had a tremendous time.”

It was shitty because it was his hometown. It had nothing to do with me not liking it when fans don't follow the face/heel line. I don't care if people don't follow the line. I just think it's shitty to boo a hometown guy who isn't a heel at the time.

Also even if you remove the small Edge portion they still had the awful you screwed Bret shit for over a decade. Canadian fans held a grudge so long HBK retired for four and a half years and they were still doing it when he came back. Hell it didn't stop until 2010 when Bret came back.

Toronto was behind Edge long before anyone in America was. I remember at house shows at the Skydome before he even had debuted when he had those myserious vignettes in like early '98 and he was running around in the upper deck of the Dome and he was already super-over before he'd even wrestled a match yet. Just cause they boo'd him one time, so what? He's been cheered a hell of a lot more than he's been booed here.

"You screwed Bret" was a fun chant for the Canadians to do anytime Hebner came out. It's not like in 2004 when people were chanting it they were actually legitimately pissed off. We also used to chant "Argosssss" in reference to the Toronto Argonauts CFL football team (which nobody cares about) during boring matches. The joke being that we're so bored we'd rather watch the Argo's play. It's more fun than just chanting "borrrring". And how's "you screwed Bret" any different than "what" or "yes, yes, yes"?

The what chants are stupid and have been for a decade now. Those are everywhere though and not in a particular area. Yes chants are good because they show approval for something. You screwed Bret.never had any point other than being marks for a guy who willingly left the company. Then you guys continued to pay to attend events to do that stupid chant. You are from there though so you are going to defend your own crowd.

Thanks for pulling up something that is over a decade old. I'm talking about present day, where Canadian taxes are much higher than they were in 2002.

What an ignorant comment, seriously I'm just stating that you are all lucky enough to get all the past events unlike the rest of the globe, also what does this have to do with comparison? You should be happy with what you've got instead of complaining

Ya because there were never any big events prior to 2002.

The Canadian dollar was worth 62.5 cents US in April 2002. Today the Canadian dollar is on par give or take a couple of cents.

Know your shit before you start negging like a little crybaby bitch.

What does the currency conversion have to do with increased taxes?
