4. NEW ORLEANS TOURISM
5. TRAVEL PACKAGE INFORMATION

6. SELLING/BUYING TICKETS FROM FORUM USERS

**********

1. GENERAL SALE TICKET INFORMATION

* One option is to forego the packages and book everything separately. There's a trade off here: Value for increased hassle.

* In general, it's best to be ready to buy your tickets DAY-OF to ensure the best seats. It usually takes a while for things to sell out (Axxess, especially, tends to have availability almost up to the event), but you don't want to get caught having to hit StubHub for tickets at beefed-up prices.

* PRESALE: There should be a presale on Ticketmaster a few days before the Nov 16 general sale. You will require codes to access this sale. Follow @wrestlemania and @MBSuperdome on Twitter and keep an eye out on this forum and the dirtsheets for all the codes, which will be easy to find.

* International buyers will have to pick their tickets up at Will Call (not a major hassle this year). US buyers can get theirs delivered. Update: This year, Ticketmaster added an option for international buyers to print at home for WrestleMania (not RAW).

* In previous years, people have gamed the system by opening a separate Ticketmaster account and transferring their tickets, thus being able to print 'em out and skip Will Call.

CAMERA POLICY FOR WRESTLEMANIA, HoF & RAW:

Camera lenses cannot exceed 6" when fully extended. No video cameras are allowed.

* The Hall of Fame is a long night of speeches and little in the way of action. If you're not that into the history of wrestling, you may get bored. Otherwise, it's a great event.

* Lots of fans like to suit up for the HoF, but casual attire is fine.

Tickets on sale: Sat 14 Dec 2013, 10am CST.

$107.70 [$95 + $12.70] (Premium Floor Seating)

Info:

* Smoothie King Center/New Orleans Arena Information

* For the past two years, the post-WrestleMania RAW has rivaled WrestleMania itself for entertainment value.

* Only 4 day package buyers will have automatic entry to RAW. 3-day packages do not include RAW tickets.

* Most of the head-on sections in the lower bowl seem to have been taken by the packages. Presale opened up the 300's and the far end 100's. There wasn't much left for the general sale, which sold out of most pairs/trips and above very quickly.

Info:

* New for 2014: WWE are splitting their VIP stars in "Premium" and Non-premium stars, with the Premium stars carrying a higher... premium.

* VIP tickets get you into normal general-admission Axxess, plus entitle you to an autograph/photo with a big name superstar.

* WWE will release the list of which superstars are scheduled, and you can scramble to book them.

* These tickets go INSANELY QUICKLY, and Ticketmaster have screwed up 2 years running, so expect a lot of stress when it comes time to buy.

2. TRANSPORT & ACCOMMODATION

FLIGHTS:

* For flight deals, try Skyscanner.net, Farecompare.com or Kayak.com.

* Try a few configurations. There's plenty of airports in the US - try breaking up your flight: fly into a hub airport, and then book an onward flight to New Orleans. Alternatively, try booking a flight to nearby airports and taxi/bus/train to New Orleans.

* In the USA, flying is often just as cheap (and much faster!) as going by train or bus, so don't assume ground transport will be the best value.

* Local airlines may have deals: Delta, AirTran, JetBlue SouthWest or Spirit. Many will charge separately for hold luggage and other perks.

ACCOMMODATION:

* For hotel deals, try sites like Hotwire.com, Kayak.com, Hotels.com, Booking.com or Lastminute.com.

* It's also worth noting that if you spot a deal or hotel you like, you should check that hotel's official site as well before booking.

* There may also be some late releases from the WrestleCon hotels.

* For apartments & rooms, try AirBnB.com.

* For hostels, try Hostelworld.com.

GETTING AROUND NEW ORLEANS:

* Luckily, since New Orleans' touristy zones are relatively compact, you'll never be far away from the WrestleMania event locations. The Superdome (WM30) and Smoothie King Center/New Orleans Arena (Raw & HoF) are right next to each other, a few blocks from the French Quarter. The Convention Centre (Axxess) is a few blocks southeast, on the river.

* Bus & Streetcar schedules & maps can be found at NORTA.com

**********

3. THE WRESTLEMANIA WEEKEND EXPERIENCE

* Head to this Facebook page for meet-ups, etc.

* New Orleans is a relatively small town. NYC swallowed up WrestleMania 29, but the atmosphere in NOLA should be distinctly wrasslin'-flavoured. If you're coming by yourself, and like to meet people, you won't have to search hard for a gathering - and bonus, you all have one major thing in common to begin with.

* There's a pretty big Facebook event page made up of (mostly) people from this forum. Check it out here.

MERCHANDISE: Never fear: the WWE will take every opportunity to get money from you. They usually operate a big WWE Store on the stadium grounds with all the goodies. One thing I like (because I always get a souvenir program) is that you can buy program at any time - so you don't have to look after it during an event.

SUPERSTORE SIGNING SCHEDULE:

THU:
1pm - Booker T
4pm - Fandango & Summer Rae

FRI:
1pm - Christian
4pm - Cesaro

SAT:
None announced yet

SUN:
11am - Big E

OTHER EVENTS:

The two other major umbrella events are:

WRESTLECON
and
WWNLive

**********

4. NEW ORLEANS TOURISM

* Firstly, WikiVoyage and Tripadvisor are your friends.

FOOD & DRINK:

* Drinking age in the US is 21, and it's extremely rare to find any bar or shop that doesn't require ID. For international visitors, this usually means you'll have to carry your passport to bars, etc, as often this is the only form of international ID that will be accepted.

* New Orleans is famous for its food. Cajun and Creole are the dominant styles. Seafood is generally excellent.

* Do a bit of research and you can find something a bit more authentic to suit any budget.

Local delicacies include:
Po-boy (beef/shrimp sub sandwich) [Domilise, Johnny's, Mother's or Mahony's];
Muffuletta (Italian sandwich) [Central Grocery, Napoleon House, Cochon Butcher]
Gumbo (basically a big spicy stew) [Try Galatoire's or Cochon];
Jambalaya (a rice-based dish) [Try the New Orleans School of Cooking];
Beignets (a choux pastry) [Try Cafe Du Monde];
Bananas Foster (a banana dessert) [Try Commander's Palace];
The Hurricane (a rum cocktail) [Pat O'Briens - travel package buyers get a $50 voucher];
Sazerac (whisky cocktail) [Try The Sazerac Bar, Sylvain or The Carousel Bar];
Mint Julep (a bourbon cocktail).

* Other places to try: Acme Oyster House, Dat Dog, Boucherie, Casamento's, Juan's Flying Burrito, Jacques-Imo's Cafe, Emeril's, Cafe Maspero.

* Also, you might want to try some 'gator meat while you're in town.

JAZZ:

* If you come to N'awlins without checking out some Jazz, your trip has been wasted - this is where Dixieland Jazz originated.

* Try Fritzel's, Preservation Hall, Sweet Lorraine or Kermit's.

* Alternatively, combine food, drink and jazz in a riverboat trip up the Mississippi.

HISTORY & TOURISM:

* If you're looking for other things to do that don't necessarily include food, drink and music (or wrestling!), New Orleans is also a famous centre of Voodoo, and there's several tours offered of haunted locations, cemeteries and so on.

* You can also take a quick ride on a streetcar, sail on a riverboat, or stroll the French Quarter's historical streets. Glorious Bourbon Street is synonymous with tacky tourist partying (Which doesn't make it any less fun. Try Frenchmen Street in Marigny to party with the locals). For upscale shopping, try Royal Street. For even more historical buildings, head to Chartres Street.

* In the more touristed areas, you're likely to be very safe (give or take the usual minor pick-pocketing and so on you have to watch out for in any town). Many of the surrounding areas will be fine as well - Southerners are typically a very friendly and welcoming bunch, though be mindful of some very poor areas that were hit hard by Katrina.

* New Orlean's tourist centre is very LGBT-friendly, with several gay clubs & bars.

**********
5. TRAVEL PACKAGE INFORMATION

* Each year, the WWE offer several travel packages for people to buy. They include all the major WWE events on WrestleMania weekend and hotel accommodation.

* The trade off with packages is that they're expensive, but convenient: one relatively stress-free purchase for major WWE events & accommodation.

* Email travel.packages@wwe.com or call (001)203 359 5182 for any questions.

Package Details

* VIP & Platinum sold out on the first day.
* Royal New Orleans sold out on the second day.
* Gold & Silver sold out in less than a week.
* More Gold & Silver packages were released in September, and sold out within a few days.

* EXTREMELY rough idea of the seats you can expect with the various packages. This is from WrestleMania 28 in Miami, so the seating won't be the same.

* Once you've made your purchase, you'll get a confirmation of purchase, then a full confirmation within 10 days.

* Hotels: Hotel Monteleone.
Double Tree by Hilton
Astor Crowne Plaza
Sheraton
Marriott

* You will only receive your package in February, and won't know your exact seating arrangements until then, but seat-view feedback is usually very good.

So this will be my third WM. I kind of stuck to the wwe thing and just did WM and axxess. Since this will be my first WM that I'll actually be traveling, I wanted to see what other events were worth checking out. I hear a lot of people talking about wrestlecon. Is it just mainly an autograph event or is there a different element to it? I would love to check out some independent wrestling if possible. Any help would be great.

Wrestlecon does feature a lot of autographs, but it's also the home of wrestling supershows, $5 wrestling, and several shows. The program so far is available at http://www.wrestlecon.com/program/. In previous years, Dragon Gate was part of WrestleCon, but they're operating a competing convention this year.

For our international posters that have never been to New Orleans, this is one city that is known for it's food. With that said....here is my list of places that I am personally considering eating at during WrestleMania 30 weekend.

If you really want the cheap, American fast food experience:

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen (one must get the red beans and rice)

Chick-Fil-A (Spicy Chicken Biscuit is the greatest breakfast sandwich known to man)

Krystal (Hamburger sliders)

As for traditional New Orleans:

Mothers

Acme Oyster house

Central groceries

Emerils

Deanies Seafood

Parasols

MrBs

RedFish Grille

Jacques-Imos

Casamentos

Cochon

Cafe Beignet or DuMont

Johnny's Po boys

Domillise

Something else cafe

Restraint revolution

The Joint

This is only my list...their are more great places to eat in New Orleans.

All of these places have their menus online, so you can check them out. Some places are offering reservations now, if you want to eat there.

That's the nice thing about being so far out - you get to do some research and make picks based on your likes. Food is a personal thing. You may like hitting up 5 star restaurants, or you might like hole-in-the-wall dives. You might hate seafood. You may love sweet things.

There's plenty of menus/reviews online: look around and see what appeals to you. In any city, some people are going to swear by one place, and others will vehemently argue in favour of another.

Personally, I'm definitely going to have a beignet from Cafe Du Monde and a Po-Boy from Domilise or Johnny's. I've never had alligator before, so I'll be researching a good place to get that.

And one thing to consider strongly is a jazz night out - pick one of the jazz halls/restaurants and combine food & music.

Everything. Lol, seriously depends on what your taste is.

What do you want to try?
Creole?
Soul Food?
Celebrity chef?
Southern pit Barebcue?
New Orleans Po boys and Muffallatas?
Cajun?

Me personally, I have I have a Po Boy and BBQ Shrimp. Meaning I will hit up Mothers and Emerils. Central Grocery, Jaques-Imos (Upscale Cajun), Acme Oyster House and Cochon (upscale southern/creole fusion) is also going to be on the must east list as well.
