wwe.com said:
When CM Punk steps into the ring to fight Paul Heyman client Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, he will face a Superstar who, in Punk’s words, is “a monster."

Against The Anomaly, The Straight Edge Superstar will have a near 50-pound weight disadvantage, as well as a reach disadvantage, never mind an obvious shortcoming in the strength department. Depending on how well he recovers from Lesnar’s savage attack on the July 15 edition of Raw — an incident that resulted in whiplash and strained knee and ankle ligaments for Punk — The Voice of the Voiceless may well be competing at less-than-peak form against an athletic abnormality who wrestles a part-time schedule.

But one factor that will not work against Punk when he arrives at Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center is fear. The Straight Edge Superstar concedes that Lesnar is every bit The Beast Incarnate that Heyman makes him out to be, but according to Punk, beasts like Lesnar exist for only one reason: to be slayed.

Punk has vowed to remove any obstacle between himself and the man who double-crossed him, Heyman. Motivated not only by the sting of betrayal, but also the uncomfortably personal remarks spouted by WWE’s extreme strategist, The Best in the World will likely need every ounce of fearlessness if he hopes to topple the biggest obstacle of them all in Lesnar.

The scene on July 15’s Raw did little to instill confidence in Punk supporters. Made to look like a courageous but overwhelmed civilian by The Anomaly, The Straight Edge Superstar displayed plenty of heart in the encounter, repeatedly pulling himself up by the bootstraps and reengaging in battle. Yet, when the dust settled, Lesnar appeared to have won the dust-up handily.

Punk insists the results will be different at SummerSlam. As unforgiving as Lesnar has proven to be, The Best in the World may be even more unrelenting. The Beast took the first several rounds of battle with relative ease, but with the war set to culminate at SummerSlam — inside the domain where Punk feels most at home, the squared circle — Lesnar’s victory is far from a fait accomplished.

Adding in the deeply personal overtones of the Heyman-Punk rivalry, there is reason to believe the fearless and untiring Straight Edge Superstar will stop at nothing to gain the win. Whether or not The Beast Incarnate can actually be slayed, however, might be a different story altogether.

Find out what happens when The Best takes on The Beast at SummerSlam, live on pay-per-view on Sunday, Aug. 18.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

I am not sure about this feud, personally I prefer CM Punk as heel, but would be cool to see CM Punk vs Brock Lesnar. Now if they structure the match good CM Punk beating Lesnar would be huge.
I'm sure they will. It will be similar to the Cena/Lesnar match only Punk won't try and brawl with Lesnar like Cena stupidly tried to. Punk will probably have a game plan of trying to catch Lesnar off-guard with his kicks and then chopping away at his legs while he's grounded. That's how you do that match and make it somewhat believable looking. Keep in mind Punk is a much better trained fighter than Cena and Cena looked somewhat believable vs Lesnar and so will Punk.

In b4 "Punk is a scrawny vanilla midget, he'll be peeled like a banana by King Kong Lesnar"

Just do the match similar to the epic series Punk had with Henry and we're good, especially considering Brock is a better wrestler than Henry.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

I thought Punk was great tonight as a face. I'm excited for the future Brock/Punk match. Brock's maniacal laugh after hitting the F5 on Punk was great too. I have a good feeling about these two going one on one.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

If they do this right this could be so epic, all in all Heyman will gradually side with Lesnar.

I think it's gonna be great one Heyman and Punk are at each other's throats in promo.

So happy to see this happen, don't judge the whole size difference watch and see how it plays out before jumping to conclusions, but I see Punk winning the feud eventually overall.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

I get chills watching the staredown as it's two of my three all time favorites and a personal dream match of mine.

How will the match work? It's quite simple actually, just have Brock destroy Punk and have Punk make a resilient babyface comeback that may or may not come up just a little bit too short. It's wrestling storytelling 101 except with two of the most talented performers in the entire universe at the moment, and with Heyman also involved hyping the match up like only he can, I don't understand how anybody can dislike the idea of this match taking place. From a win-loss perspective I think Punk needs the win more as even if he beats Punk nobody is going to buy him against Rock, but it really doesn't fucking matter who wins to be honest. If you don't think the actual match will be good, go check out Brock Vs Mysterio/Brock Vs Benoit/Brock Vs Guerrero as all three are classic monster heel Vs smaller babyface, and if you think that Punk can't be an effective babyface against a monster heel you should honestly go check out his fantastic series against Henry last year where they tore the house down during two Raws in april.

Thinking Punk takes it and we get a return match where Brock demolishes Punk at NOC and then goes away until Mania season.

Hopefully they dont fuck this up and make Lesnar lose

Who needs the win more Lesnar or Punk

I can make a case for both guys.
You have a fresh Punk returning as a babyface who lost his last two feuds with The Rock & Undertaker, but with him potentially retiring in a few years how much higher can his career elevate?
Then you have Lesnar this guy has lost 2-2 in terms of wins & losses & with him potentially having a match with Rock or Taker at Mania he needs a win too.

The question now is who benefits more & who would you ultimately let go over & why. Discuss

Re: Who needs the win more Lesnar or Punk

this question assumes that whoever loses will take a step back and whoever wins will take a step forward. Del Rio vs Ziggler at Payback illustrates that its possible to do a program that strengthens all parties involved regardless of who's declared the victor.

Re: Who needs the win more Lesnar or Punk

Lesnar can't lose to Punk... His monster angle will be 100% gone.
It was long gone after just his first match with Cena, and Cena's no sell afterwards. Lesnar is simply now the highest paid jobber in WWE history because of that.

Re: Who needs the win more Lesnar or Punk

It's not about the wins or losses, it's about how it happens. If both guys put on an amazing match and one of them loses, it won't make them seem less of a wrestler.
I agree but if Lesnar faces Rock or Undertaker after this at Mania you want to buy him as a viable threat and by losing it just takes away from the mma kick ass gimmick.

Re: Who needs the win more Lesnar or Punk

Lesnar's losing way too much nowadays, but Punk will be here for the long run (hopefully) so I'm going for Punk. If he gets the win over Lesnar and then goes on to feud with Del Rio for the WHC (after the Ziggler Feud) then you can have Punk vs Henry for the WHC/WWE Title Unification at Survivor Series. (Of course, this relies on Ziggler not winning the Title at MitB)

Re: Who needs the win more Lesnar or Punk

Lesnar. The beauty of this is that Punk can lose, but since he is a babyface, he can still look strong in defeat as long as he pulls off his usual great babyface performance. Let Lesnar beat the crap out of Punk, give Punk some well-built hope spots, have Heyman interfere on Lesnar's behalf, and then give Lesnar the victory either by pinfall or have Punk pass out. Add in some blood, weapons, and superman comeback attempts, and there you have it. An instant classic.

Re: Who needs the win more Lesnar or Punk

Yeah I was thinking about this earlier...I have to give it Lesnar. Lesnar will not be around for much longer, so he needs to look as strong as possible for his next feud. What if Lesnar loses to Punk and then goes on to feud with Taker? Taker beat Punk at Mania this year. If Lesnar can't beat Punk, how are the fans going to take him seriously against Taker?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing Punk, he's awesome. But Punk isn't leaving anytime soon. He can bounce back from a loss.

Re: Who needs the win more Lesnar or Punk

They both need the win TBH. Punk needs the win, because he just turned back into a face last night, and having him lose so soon as a face could hurt his momentum, while Lesnar is rumored to face either The Rock or Undertaker at WrestleMania, and having Lesnar lose to Punk(someone who both Rock and Taker have beaten in this year alone) could hurt his credibility.

IMO Lesnar needs the win more, especially if the WWE plan on having Rock/Taker vs Brock on being the focal point of WrestleMania 30. Plus a lost to Lesnar shouldn't hurt Punk that bad, since Lesnar is still considered a major threat among the WWE roster.
