wwe.com said:
When CM Punk steps into the ring to fight Paul Heyman client Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, he will face a Superstar who, in Punk’s words, is “a monster."

Against The Anomaly, The Straight Edge Superstar will have a near 50-pound weight disadvantage, as well as a reach disadvantage, never mind an obvious shortcoming in the strength department. Depending on how well he recovers from Lesnar’s savage attack on the July 15 edition of Raw — an incident that resulted in whiplash and strained knee and ankle ligaments for Punk — The Voice of the Voiceless may well be competing at less-than-peak form against an athletic abnormality who wrestles a part-time schedule.

But one factor that will not work against Punk when he arrives at Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center is fear. The Straight Edge Superstar concedes that Lesnar is every bit The Beast Incarnate that Heyman makes him out to be, but according to Punk, beasts like Lesnar exist for only one reason: to be slayed.

Punk has vowed to remove any obstacle between himself and the man who double-crossed him, Heyman. Motivated not only by the sting of betrayal, but also the uncomfortably personal remarks spouted by WWE’s extreme strategist, The Best in the World will likely need every ounce of fearlessness if he hopes to topple the biggest obstacle of them all in Lesnar.

The scene on July 15’s Raw did little to instill confidence in Punk supporters. Made to look like a courageous but overwhelmed civilian by The Anomaly, The Straight Edge Superstar displayed plenty of heart in the encounter, repeatedly pulling himself up by the bootstraps and reengaging in battle. Yet, when the dust settled, Lesnar appeared to have won the dust-up handily.

Punk insists the results will be different at SummerSlam. As unforgiving as Lesnar has proven to be, The Best in the World may be even more unrelenting. The Beast took the first several rounds of battle with relative ease, but with the war set to culminate at SummerSlam — inside the domain where Punk feels most at home, the squared circle — Lesnar’s victory is far from a fait accomplished.

Adding in the deeply personal overtones of the Heyman-Punk rivalry, there is reason to believe the fearless and untiring Straight Edge Superstar will stop at nothing to gain the win. Whether or not The Beast Incarnate can actually be slayed, however, might be a different story altogether.

Find out what happens when The Best takes on The Beast at SummerSlam, live on pay-per-view on Sunday, Aug. 18.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

Lesnar doesn't need heyman, imo he could get over without even talking or having a manager.
Lesnar absolutely needs Heyman. In fact, it was Lesnar that got Heyman back into the WWE after he'd been gone since 2007. He doesn't want to talk, and he wanted Heyman to talk for him, so here he is. Luckily they've kept Heyman around as a manager for others too.

The fact it started tonight makes me think the first match will be at MITB with Heyman still on the fence. But then again, I dont know shit. I do know that it's going to be a great feud. Punk will bring the best out of Brock and he will look the best he has since he returned. A far cry from Cena or HHH.

guess I will be checking the last few moments of the show.

Brock vs Punk main event of SummerSlam. Going to be good at least.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

Next week Punk calls out Heyman, blaming him for Lesnar coming out and attacking him. Heyman denies it, saying he didn't know Brocl was going to do that, Brock is his own man, he does his own thing. Well see where they go from there but I'm pretty sure Summerslam were not getting Punk/Lesnar until Summerslam, so maybe Punk/Axel at MITB?

Nah. Axel gets Miz. Poor Barrett...

You just know Heyman will interact with RVD when the time is right. Perhaps he becomes a supporting chatacter in this story of Best vs Beast?

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

Considering Punk has no one to face at Money in the Bank I think we will get two Lesnar/Punk matches because Curt Axel is dealing with The Miz and RVD I would guess is going to be in the Money in the Bank ladder match. So you have Lesnar vs Punk with Heyman in the neutral corner at MITB with him screwing Punk over and Punk beating Lesnar in the rematch at Summerslam.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

Really wished they didn't do that to be honest.. Just lost easily the number 1 heel in the company.

Pretty sad when Mark Henry and Alberto Del Rio are the only main event heels in the company right now.. I'd include Ryback but his character basically got fucking buried last night... With Punk off to the babyface side, and Ziggler likely joining him, this better mean a face is going heel to keep the numbers the same.. Maybe Orton or Jericho?

I'm pretty sure I'd call Lesnar a main-event heel, but I get what you're saying. He's in no way, shape or form a full-time performer.

I'm fine with Punk going the face-route, as long as he doesn't fall back into that groove of late 2011-summer 2012.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

It should be a fun feud. Lesnar has to win because he's fighting either Undertaker or The Rock (or someone big) at Wrestlemania 30.

But again, it will be a fun feud.

I wonder how they will handle it because we have a long time to go before Summerslam. They have to keep us interested somehow. Hopefully they figure out something good.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

You know Lesnar is not that much taller than Punk guys. Shorter guys CAN beat bigger guys. It's not out of the realm of possibility.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

I think this could possibly be a great match but all involved gotta be on the same page. Structure of the match is important. Punk doesn't have to win the first match but he's likely to win the feud so it can be done..

Honestly, I have a hard time believing Brock losing to anyone so that doesn't really factor in for me but i know it will for some. Summerslam looks like a must buy to me already.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

Lesnar is winning the feud. He has to.

Imagine they get The Rock back for 'Mania 30. You need a strong Lesnar, not a watered-down loser. You're risking big $ and big publicity.

I know Punk lost to The Rock twice and Undertaker, and it seems unfair; but you can't have him going over the biggest name on the active roster.

Just enjoy the feud for what it is.

Lesnar by no means has to win the feud. They can split it 1-1 with Punk taking Summerslam. Brock's gonna look strong going into Wrestlemania against the Rock anyways, they just need a mini feud setup for Brock before the biggest show comes around

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

Sarcasm1 is right in the sense of Triple H's ego. I don't see Triple H letting Punk win a feud with Brock after Triple H lost his to the same guy. I have no problem with Lesnar winning though. Lord knows he should have never lost to Cena or Triple H. You guys have to get this out of your heads or else it will ruin the excitement for this feud.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

HHH had nothing to gain from the feud other than buyrates, Punk has the world to gain from beating Lesnar.
A - No. He has NOTHING to gain from beating Lesnar. The only thing Punk has left to do is main event WrestleMania. Beating Lesnar does NOT achieve that goal. All it does is rank in there along everything else he's done. There's no good coming out of it, it just is what it is.

B - They don't care what Punk has to gain from it. Triple H is far above Punk in company standing and that's as far as they're looking into it. If Triple H lost to him, Punk loses to him. There's nothing to discuss.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

Brock is winning this feud especially coming right after winning a feud with Hunter and having a main event with Rock or Taker at WM XXX.

If this happened at WM XXX or SummerSlam 2014 I would bet heavily on Punk winning. But now? No Way in Hell.

Re: Brock Lesnar vs. CM Punk feud

Who says a Summerslam match couldn't be no DQ with HHH (or someone else to start a feud with Lesnar, maybe Rock/Taker?) helping Punk out for a huge win to end the show?
Because after Summerslam Lesnar won't be seen again until the Road to Wrestlemania starts in January. They aren't gonna set up his next feud then have Lesnar disappear for 5 months.
